LoLosMom:  No posters, signs, or banners are allowed in PIR Hall.  They block the view of others.  So....for those wanting to make these to honor your sailors, please use them in your hotel rooms!

Yvonne:  I emailed RTC (Brian Walsh) a while back about this.  He is in the RTC Public Affairs Office.  He said that they strongly encourage all extras to stay off base for PIR.  However, if someone needs to be nearby family for any reason, they will try to accommodate them in the Chapel to watch the Livestream.  They will not have any chance of getting into PIR Hall to see the actual service.

In a precious PIR group, someone reported that no extras were allowed in the Chapel, they had reserved it for overflow from PIR Hall. Since this is a PIR group with 13 divisions (considered a LARGE PIR group), it is possible that the same situation would exist for this group.

So, the only thing I can say is to directly contact RTC about this  847 688 2405  or take your extras, but beware that they may be turned away.  If you arrive on a shuttle, they probably can take the shuttle back to the hotel (for another fee!).

Posters are not allowed at PIR...people sneak them in. I don't advise it.

Posters obstruct others view.

Neither are balloons or flowers. You can have those items for later but bear in mind that your recruit will not be able to bring them back onboard RTC.

All of this is in your RTC FAMILY GUIDE (clickable link)

diannep has a good answer about the Chapel. She contacted PAO a while back and spoke with them. She should be along soon... :-)

I'm sorry I didn't know I was just asking! I didn't want his little sister to miss out.

When I spoke to my sailor, she told me that since her sisters were not on the list that they are able to watch in the chapel. Does this mean I shouldn't take them? I'm really confused... She says they can but I'm hearing hear that they are not able to

There was someone at last week's PIR with a poster. I do not think you are supposed to have them but I will let the veteran mom's chime in.

Comment by LoLo's Mom on December 2, 2014 at 12:43pm

what about posters?? are they allowed? If so what is allowed?
