Ah, my SR will be in pcola for a bit longer. Which is fine. Much warmer than GL. LOL. YES, we are looking forward to Friday!! I 'd love the opportunity and have the chance to meet you both. Safe and Happy travels!!
The email address for Public Affairs is correct, I used it last week.
Ladies: A mom from the Thanksgiving PIR group said they arrived at RTC for PIR at 7:15 and their division section was already full! So remember....gates open at 6:30....plan to be there then. You want a chance to select your seats!
aossanna - If you would like to contact RTC PAO ahead of time their number is :
Public Affairs Office 847-688-2405
Hmmmm....they have removed their email link (had drop down boxes etc. for it) from the site.
Don't know if it is the same still but here is the one they had:
Ladies, to tag on to what FTLW said, theft is a huge problem in A School (and duty stations too). They have to lock up everything and will fail inspection if they don't. Remind your sailors after PIR to be discreet with cash and gift cards....or they may find somebody could "relieve" them of them! I once heard that a female sailor on a ship had someone take her WET TOWEL when she left it on her rack and stepped out for a minute. They say on the ships that the clothes being washed/dried "have legs" if you don't stay with them until completion. Very sad, but it is the world today and our military is no different!
Division 30 here. He will only be in P'Cola for 24 days and then we think he will be going to Norfolk, VA. Looking forward to Friday!!!
asosanna: I agree with FTLW about the cash but since he will be leaving RTC that night....and may like having some cash during his travels to A School, it should be ok (but I would have him tuck that $50 bill in a hidden place in his wallet just to be sure it is safe!). A gift card would be good also....he could have that in his wallet too. If he is like my sailor son, he doesn't like cash! UGH! I love cash and try to live on it as much as possible to stay in my budget and to avoid more credit card fraud (like most, I have been a victim a couple of times). Anyway, whatever makes your sweet mom comfortable. If she goes with the cash, just have him fold it up small and tuck it maybe deep inside of his wallet.
Good Afternoon!
Hello Ladies, (Michellex2 & Aossanna)
My SR (soon to be SAILOR) will be heading off to P'cola as well! My family and I are planing on going to the AP to meet up with him as well. I gave my Sr the same flight form to give back to us at PIR. I hope he remembers as well.
Michelle what division are your SR in? Aossanna, I seen your SR is in 029. Mine is in 904. Your SR's PIR this Friday? ( I only ask b/c some others have joined this group, I'm guessing so they get a better understanding of what's to come for their SR) Is your SR, your child, spouse, or bf? Will your soon to be sailor be at p'cola, for a while?
Navymom904
michellex2 - Thank you so much for helping out!
aossanna- I sent you a friend request. Since both of our SR's will be going to Pensacola I am assuming they will be on the same flight. We plan on going to the airport to see him off. I can help if you need me to. We will not know any flight information until PIR. I sent my SR an index card with Flight, Gate, Airport etc. on it so he can fill it out when he receives the information and give it to me at PIR so he does not forget.
