Thanksgiving - Picking up My SR at RTC

Where do we pick up our adopted SR? Is there a specific location to go to once on campus?   Do we need a gate pass and show proof of car (rental) insurance?

The person who has authorization to pick up my SR must be listed on the letter, have ID, and  have the letter in their possession at the designated time of pick up and they have a curfew to return by 19:30.

Thank you for your help.

I must have missed where they said it was for another recruit,,, I just saw her ask if she had not used her 3 can she add another,,  as long as it is for your recruit you can,, your recruit can add people up til about 5 days prior to PIR.

Good Morning Everyone!

This is what the Family Guide says about putting extra SRs' guests on another SR's list:

"Recruits ARE NOT authorized to place additional guests under another recruit. "

Soooo.....please, ladies, do not do this.  I will say that years back, when my son was up there and for a time afterwards, extras were being put on other SRs' lists, but then the rule was changed.

Arrived home from work to a missed call from my SR son in Division 29.  The message was short and sweet:  All is well; changed the PIR guest list; see you and 2 weeks; love you mum!  He sounded great, confident and very upbeat.  Also, the Challenge Coins I ordered last week arrive today - excellent quality!  Hope you all have a relaxing evening!

Bug5280: It was awesome to hear his voice. If I could only get a call from my other SR who graduates next week I would feel a lot better.

I just got a call! My SR is in DIV 30. He said their Division is doing great. He also mentioned that they are getting adopted for Thanksgiving from a local community organization. I will be in GL for my other son's PIR on 11/26 so I emailed the RTC Public Relations email address that was provided by another mom and they are going to see what they can do so we can spend the holiday as a family. I am so proud of all of our SR's.

Good morning! I see there has been some unease in here in the last few hours. :( This makes me sad. Unfortunately on a forum you cannot see what the person is saying and things can get misunderstood.

Like everyone has said tensions run high, emotions can go from one extreme to the other at the drop of a hat. Soon, maybe, and if you already haven't, you will find yourself happily doing a everyday task, and then find yourself crying. You might be at the grocery store when you pick up your SRs favorite item to put it in your cart then realize you don't need it, only bringing yourself to tears.

Whether your whole family sees your SAILOR at PIR, or after really isn't the point anyway is it? The point is you will have a brilliant, proud, country serving SAILOR, that you are proud of and love!!!!!

I finally get to see my son in a few weeks, when he arrives it will be a year to the day since I last saw him. I did get to talk to him on the phone in June when he came back to the states for a couple of days for additional school, but that was the last time. I only chat with him through email and FB messenger, and that is only once and a while.

Just recently Sailors on several ships went through weeks with the only outside contact with their families being a short message to the effect, "We are ________ and OK, I love you!", and one other opportunity to say, "We are still here." My son was one of them, it was awful not knowing what was going on, but it is the Navy.

Deep breath ladies, this is just the beginning of the Navy rules, and it all does work out eventually I promise.

Big Hug smiley face
