p.s... Kori, I just added it to my letter that will be mailed in the morning!! :)! Good luck!!
Kori - he can buy one at the NEX if he took cash I think......my son's has a lot of minutes (900); I wish he knew your BF so he could lend it to him to to call you!
Kori - do you have a Sam' Club near you; they have a good price on their cards. They aren't always easy to find because of cell phones. Make sure you buy the card for making calls from a pay or landline rather than the card for a cell phone. I hope you can get one so you hear from him soon. I'll mention to my SR to share his card with others.
N didn't bring any cash either! He literally brought the clothes on his back haha he kept telling me he didn't want me to give him any money to bring or anything like that. he didn't bring a wallet either just a piece of paper with a couple addresses, with the necessary ID's and such. Maybe I could tell one of you his actual name so you could mention it in a letter until I can afford to send him a card. Possibly I could send it in a private message or something... ? I know they aren't allowed very much time to call (like no longer than a few minutes so I don't think he'd use up too many minutes).
ps. thank you so much everyone you're all so thoughtful ! (:
Kori, we are not allowed to share names on here and the recruits only have last names... :( I will try to tell my son as much info about you...that I have! My son is getting a lot of phone cards sent to him for his B-day on the 26th of November...so he will have lots to share...I will make sure he shares!
yeah I figured as much. It's all right though. I don't think the divison is too big is it? Or at least they are in the same ship and division so that may narrow it down a bit. Well if he finds a recruit that has an asian girlfriend named Kori (from arizona) then I'm pretty sure that would be my N! (also my BF is probably one of the younger ones there, I'm not sure how old your son is.) Thank you so much again though everyone on this site is so kind! It's nice that we all have something in common to share, and that thing is our recruits which are all so dear and important to us (:

also his birthday is very close to my BF's. his is nov 21st. I hope their officers don't give them too hard of time on their birthdays !
I didn't send my son a calling card but he called and said he was allowed to buy one with this account hey gave him so I wouldn't worry if that is the reason he hasn't called. Hopefully you get a call soon.
hmm that is weird then. I wonder the reason everyone else in this division has called home then already and mine hasn't. He probably doesn't want to spend any money he is earning and is just hoping me or his mom will send one. Anyways no news is good news (call wise) so I'm sure there is nothing to worry about because I received my form letter the other day. Thanks for the info twosilvatwins (:
I was beyond proud... My son called on Saturday and sounded like he is really enjoying BC. I asked if they were yelling at him much and he said .... yeah that is what they are supposed to do mom. Does anyone know what Recruit chief petty officer is???
The RCPO is the Chief Honcho among recruits. The RCPO is the primary recruit assistant to RDCs and is responsible for:

1. Maintaining good order, discipline, and security within the division at all times.

2. Ensuring compliance with standing orders and regulations.

3. Assisting RDCs with implementation of schedules.

4. Reporting any abnorrnal condition to RDCs, including violations of good order, discipline and security, when RDCs are not present.
OH MY GOSH.... I am one proud mom of an RCPO... YAY!
Hey, congratulations on that!!! You should be very proud of that!!! That was one of the questions I forgot to ask my son when he called. I had a bunch of things I wanted to say, and the next thing I knew my mind went totally blank. I have started a little note w/questions to be asked for the next time he calls, which I'm hoping will be next Sunday again. I was wondering if anyone got that info. out of our kids - - did they know when they would be allowed to call again?
Again, twosilvatwins, Congrats to you and your son!!!!
