Forrest Gump - too funny!

ROFLMA...TOO FUNNY ! Must tell "E" that one! He is going to think it is too funny that he is now known as the 'Laundry Guy" amongst the N4M's :)!!!!

I had a great conversation with my son today he said he has made friends and is really enjoying BC. He said it is a lot like high school but you march everywhere you go. There are still guys who think they don't have to listen to anyone just like high school. We talked for a very long time today.... I needed that. He told me about his ship having 3 levels and they are on top of the other 2 which are integrated male and female. He said level 2 is scared of the IT that they do because 2 can hear 3 for hours at a time. They took a guy from level 2 up to do IT with them and he was dying in a few minutes. He said he has put on sooo much muscle. At least 10 pounds.... One pound for each part of the six pack and four pounds for his arms and legs. He made me laugh because he said he was walking by a guy who bunks next to him who was filling out a N4M questionaire and he thought the guy went through his stuff so he asked the guy why he had his papers....The other guy laughed and said our mothers probably know each other... I think he said the guy is from Pennsylvania.

I wonder if that was my son?? I sent him a bunch of questionnaires and we are from Pennsylvania - - I love that story !! It is funny how a phone call means so much now - - I can hardly remember when I used to say to my husband when "R" would call here, you get it - - he only ever wanted something back then - - and now we are knocking each other over to get to the phone and then we take turns on the phone and then after we talk to "R" we sit there and analyze the conversation for hours. Our relationship has already changed with "R" and I know he doesn't even realize it yet. He seemed to think they are getting better as a division, although he did acknowledge that they are 12th out of 12 divisions. We asked him if the RDCs have yelled at him personally and he said no. He also told us that none of them even know his name. He is trying to stay under the radar, which is exactly how his personality is. He said a lot of them have colds and coughs, which I told him is very normal for BC. He was most interested in hearing our plans for adopting him for Thanksgiving. I still cannot believe we are going to see him in nine days! It's going to be an interesting road trip - - 13 hours with our son's GF - - two months ago he would barely let me in the same room as her and now - - well, I guess I will really get to know her. Next time I talk to him I am going to ask him if he has a nickname or if he knows any of the guys I have read mentioned on here. I love the Forrest Gump nickname - - very clever! I don't know if anybody heard this from their recruits, but our son said that every time he gets mail he has to do eight counts (something physical - - push-ups, sit-ups, a combination of that stuff) to actually receive it. We said do you want us to still send mail, and he said yes, that he really enjoyed receiving it and reading it. But they have to do the eight-counts and then they reward them by giving them their mail. I hope he really enjoyed that one letter from his 4-year-old brother who put a handprint and tried to draw a picture of our dog for him - - I don't know if that was worth doing eight-counts for :) I love reading all of the stories about our recruits in div 24 - - it's been really helpful in understanding the environment that my son is in. I still say that with all of these wonderful moms on here, I can't imagine how we have a bad division!

He mentioned the guy from Penn is from a small town and knew some girl that my son met last year on an FFA trip to indianapolis.... from the same small town. He said he couldn't believe it was a small world after all ... lol
He also told me the one thing he can't wait to be over is 8 counts...
He mentioned that for Thanksgiving the guys who are being adopted by their families can take a friend with them. Who knows maybe your son will invite my son... Since we live so far it is completely impossible to try and go for 1 day. Send me a personal message so we can share names of our children. ttyl

Thanks for sharing - I didn't know there were 3 floors; I did know this division isn't integrated. We all learn a tid bit from things we each learn from our SRs so this is great!

Yep "E" Told me that too, and the Divisions below him can hear them doing IT's at all hours!

My son mentioned last names starting with letter C, T, H and E. Last name E was the forrest gump guy... If any of your sons last names begin with these letter send me a message with the last name so I can let my son know that we know each other.

My SR called his girl today; sounds like he is dong well. Mentioned that his section leader role changed; he had to move bunks and is now SL over 30 instead of 15 w/1 other SL I believe. He will be in his Dress Blues on Thanksgiving. So uniforms must be arriving this week! Busy week this week and another one ahead - lots of inspections and test coming up. I think it may be Hell Week this week too (2nd hand so not sure). Believe the Gas Chamber may be this week as well as he talked about that and that he is only eating bread for the meal before it. He gave Ash the email to send his travel itinerary too - I had already gotten it from Betsy and sent his details in on Friday. He said his name was not called off when they were informed SRs if itinerarys were received. I just sent Friday so will check on Monday if I don't received receipt confirmation. I'm looking forward to our trip to GL this Wednesday and can hardly believe we will see him in his Dress Blues Thanksgiving Day! Anyone else hear from their SR today?

HooooRaaahhhh! Got a 30 minute phone call Saturday! (I posted this to another 'link' yesterday :(!!!! And not a moment too soon, I am really missing him !!!! Pretty much the same mind set (frustrated), but when I asked "how are you REALLY...he said "good!".! Loves being the Laundry Guy though, he does it every night and takes full advantage of the 'quiet' laundry room to study!!! He knows the "Forest Gump" Guy...but added they also call him the "Silver Sharpe" too, LOL! Something about the very first day they were "DRILLED" when writing on clothing "Make sure you use the BLACK SHARPE MARKER...USE the BLACK Sharpe Marker...over and over again!" "Forest" apparently picked up and used the "Silver Sharpe" :)! They all paid for it!!! First test of "following directions" I would imagine! He did say the same thing...when they do several hours of IT, "Forest" keeps on going, and never breaks a sweat!" They are going into "Hell Week" this week (Starts Wednesday), but was pleased they would get a break on Thursday for Thanksgiving. He stated... "part of this divisions problem...everyone wants to socialize and won't shut up!" He ended with..."looking forward to seeing everyone, and can't wait to get a good night sleep!"
LoLo....I was not aware we could send travel itinerary to a email? Is this what we are suppose to do? He did receive the flight information I sent via US MAIL.??

Cindy - you could fax, email or send via mail so I think you've got it covered! I just made reservations this week so I sent via mail directly to my SR but also sent to an email address so I was sure arrive in time. Taking a back up copy to GL to give my SR on Thanksgiving as well! Hoping to learn lots on Thursday when I get to see and talk to A. I'll report in on Friday! My A sounded really good too - he did say to his GF that some of these guys just can't march and he doesn't get it. :-) Has mentioned the socializing aspect - at night it is especially bothersome!
