P.S.  I laughed out loud for awhile reading Sewing Guy... thanks so much for sharing that.

What wonderful news you all have.  I still just have one letter.  I read it every night. Great Lakes is three hours ahead of me so I would not be home for a call unless I took the afternoon off work... hard to coordinate that.  My son and I have lived apart for some time.  He is older.  I have faith that he is Ok...just like I did when he lived away from me before he chose the Navy for a career.  The letter has told me he is happy with his choice.  That's all I need until PIR.  They do grow up fast. Bless you all :)

awesome, Kathy...I have a feeling all of our SR's will be doing many things we never thought they would...but, that's definitely a good thing!

i was wondering why they faint.  i could see that tho.  plus it might be hot in the PIR area.  especially for the ones graduating in summertime.

Comment by Cat(Mom of an AO) on December 15, 2010 at 4:57pm

I did not know that could happen by locking your knees. Well thank goodness for navywife's bodysnatcher!!!

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on December 15, 2010 at 4:53pm

They have to stand in the same spot without moving for a very long time. Sometimes they lock their knees and it cuts off the blood flow and cause them to faint. They just have to remember not to lock their knees and they will be fine. :)

why is that so common, that recruits faint while at PIR? I have heard about this and also about the "bodysnatchers"

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on December 15, 2010 at 4:37pm

That's great navy wife, at least he will get to move up and down the isles, no chance of him locking his knees and fainting. I saw one at my daughters PIR drop to the floor and the body snatcher grabbed him and pulled him out the back into a room or hall way. oh, love the baby sailor story, that was cute.

just got a letter from my husband.  at PIR he's a Bodysnatcher!  lol.  so he's gotta pick up the people who faint.
