Kathy,  I just love watching that countdown clock tick away!!!  I still have moments but it has gotten easier.  Actually, to say it's been 4 weeks already, Wow!  Still waiting to hear if he will be a G&G, but I'm thinking so.  He is going to Goose Creek, SC for Nukes.

Gina- Stay strong...it's coming.  Make a list of the questions you want to ask. When the call comes, it goes by so quickly.  It seem's that they only have a certain amount of time for the call. My SR said in the beginning that he only had 12 minutes. He was also calling his father and cousin. He kept asking...how much time has it been. You could hear someone shouting the time in the background.

The reason I had asked about the fed ex label was, I saw where somewhere else  said, if you order the pics early they would be shipped home. It turns out, they were talking only about the keel book and the dvd. I picked up some fed ex labels today. :) I just find this all so confusing and frustrating.  It's the not knowing of what's going on. I just noticed today that there's more discussion forum's then the four shown (duh). I had a million questions, but felt stupid asking them.

JessicaB and Lynne...Thank you so much for your knowledge and guidance.

Yes, Cat.  GradNGo means they move off of RTC within 24 hours of PIR.  Most are gone by the wee hours of the next morning.  So since he is flying to Pensacola eventually, he will stay on RTC until then.  Hence, not GradNGo.

GIna,  don't worry you will get a letter and hopefully a call. Please stay positive!! We are here to help you... remember??

DebBon, LOL, they proably were together.

Navywife, I can't wait to see my baby sailor!!

diannep, He said he does not know what G&G is but he is  staying in GL for an additional week so it is dafe to say that he will be with us for the weekend.

Comment by Gina - Ship 07, Div. 050 on December 14, 2010 at 3:14pm

Still no call here!  Hanging in by a thread!  I'm grateful for the one and only letter I received.  But I'm doing my best to stay positive.  Sigh!

my husband's ship 02 div 909 and he's g&g too.  only he stays in GL for school lol.  when my dad taught MM school up there at GL, we told our friends "dad teaches the baby sailors to eat." lol.  cant believe my husband and your sons/daughters will be "baby sailors" as of 1/21/11!!!

Cat,

While I was talking with mine he was also helping someone else figure out how to use the phone so maybe they were together.  I did cry afterwards and also ended up with a headache but it was so nice hearing his voice, just to know he is still alive and doing ok.  I told him to keep pressing on and do the best he can cause I am so proud of him.

vibranttk:  Hang in there...this is still the highly emotional part of bc...it lasts for a while...until about the middle of bc.  Waterworks are expected!  The calls get more full of positive reports too as bc progresses...and they realize that they are almost sailors!

Vent on this site any time you want to!  So glad that you heard from him.

Comment by diannep on December 14, 2010 at 1:30pm

Cindy, if he is GradNGo to GL...that is a GOOD thing.  He will move over there right after PIR (takes about 3-5 hours) and then use his phone card to call you to come get him.  THEN....he just MAY have overnights with you!

Cat:  If your son is staying in GL a few days before going to Pensacola, he is not GradNGo.  SO you should have the weekend with him, at least, just not overnights (he will still be on RTC base...).  He will have to be back on base by 8 or 9 each night. Lots of time with him!  And if you get there early to pick him up on Sat. and Sun, you may get to watch his group march to the gate (so I have heard!).
