Gina- Kathy's letters to her SR sound almost exactly like mine! I also keep a pad of paper in the kitchen and the bathroom (good ideas in there!) to write random thoughts and things I think he would be interested in.

Cat, Bradsfanclub, and Bradsmom - no luck on our end today either. No letter. I happened to talk to his Navy recruiting office today. He said our division probably had a trouble maker and they are being punished. Hoping for tomorrow!

DebBon - Congratulations on your letter. That gives me encouragement that ours are only a day or two away!

Cat - Great Quote! Very appropriate!

I do the joke of the day, I also took advise from another mom and inserted pics within the letter w/ a goofy caption. I tell him about my day, what we are doing, preparations for our exciting trip up. Also tell him about all the different things to do there, so this way if he sees something he likes, we can put it at the top of the list when he's with us. I put on my facebook to my friends "don't forget when you are writing your Christmas cards, to send one to my son at boot camp" and then include the address, to increase his mail flow- i make sure i put all the do's and don'ts for mail for him, so he doesnt get in trouble. I also try and be as much of a goofball as i can in each letter. Have purchased a gazillion funny hallmark cards to send in between letters when there isn't much going on to tell him about, and at the bottom of each page, put something inspirational. "YOU GOT THIS!"

Lynne-LOL, I thought I was the only one that did that:)

Gina...I can't remember if I said this in this group...sometimes I can't figure out what I said where but take a picture you have of your recruit and make them a part of your holidays....lol! Put them on a chair near the Christmas tree with an ornament and label it decorating the tree and then write about them doing that. The next day take a picture of them (the picture) shopping with you at Walmart as the picture rides along in the cart, or goes through the drive-through or helps you cook. or cleans or whatever. Sure you recruit will think you have entered the land of dementia...but they will laugh too...and they need a little laughter..lol

Have you all heard of Red Shirt Fridays? I've been doing this for years, because my dad makes me...LOL. It's very patriotic. My dad says it comes from Star Trek, because the guy in the red shirt always "gets it" before the show is over. To learn more check on this website.

Thanks Kathy and Cat. That really helped! I forgot all about his Facebook, I'm sure there's tons of material there. I love you ladies! I'll take some new pictures of the kitties, too. Oh yeah, and pictures of the landscaping that he and his Dad worked on all summer. Whew! Thanks
