Collyn's letter was dated Sunday the 28th so sounds like they do get to write home on Sundays. Mail is probably just taking a bit longer for different parts of the country. We are in Nebraska. Can't wait to hear what your recruits have to say! Have a great day everyone!!

Hey Donna, congrats on the phone call. I hope we get one soon or at least a letter. I miss mine so bad. They are in the same Ship and Div so hopefully mine will come soon. What's your son's name so I can ask Kevin about him in my next letter? Maybe they are friends now.

I know many of you have ordered the blue star flag as I did when my son was in boot camp. Today I learned something I did not know from another seasoned Navy mom and thought I would pass it on to you. The Navy protocol is that the flag can be displayed as soon as the recruit becomes a sailor, after Battlestations 21. Before that they are a recruit, a *prospective* sailor, and are not yet afforded the honor. So once you get the flag hang on to it until after Battlestations...it will be like your own little ceremony...sort of like them getting their cap...for those of you who have children it will be neat!!

He called!!!! Yayyyyy!! Did well on test so chief allowed 5 minute call (on premises he was calling for banking info) He sounded great! Couldn't get alot of info from him. Hopefully he'll write Sunday, & I'll get some answers. He knew he was G&G before he left for boot camp. He's going into NUKE in Charleston, SC I guess they base it on when the next class forms. Nothing ever indicates how long, so we've only made reservations till Saturday. If something happens & he gets longer we'll figure something out.

Hey folks haven't talked to you in a couple days but looks like you have been busy. I know it is hard waiting on those letters...but remember that saying...good things come to those who wait...of course...so do hives from anxiety...lol!! Oh well, on a lighter note, I just want to add a couple things to what Eileen had to say.. Taco Bell is also available at Ricky Heaven. They usually however do not get to imbibe in these places until PIR weekend, and man is that place have a line then...poor recruits have to smell it every weekend as they are out running and marching until then.

In terms of addressing letters...since 9/11 every letter must be addressed to a particular recruit. So, what we did in my PIR group is every week 2 to 3 times a week moms just stuffed an extra letter in the envelope to go to a recruit...many times these recruits wrote back and actually I am writing to someone who is in Goose Creek now in A-school. It is really something to do. In terms of having a class room write, the recruit has to approach the RDC and ask if they mind of the classroom mails them a manilla envelope full of cards for the division. Each RDC that was approached in our PIR group said yes, so again I think that is very doable.

As far as getting mail folks think about when you got your form letter, usually the recruits get to write the following Sunday....and it may take several days to get that first letter...so hang in there...have a good night! Remember Lebron went back to Cleveland tonight...get on ESPN and write about all the hoopla around the game your male recruits will love to hear about it!!

Ladies I received a letter today!! Just want to share some of the info to maybe help put your minds at ease. I really hope I don't ruin any surprises so if you want to wait to hear from your recruit please stop reading this message now....

He said that Thanksgiving wasn't too bad. They mostly sat around that day but the food sounds like it was good. They had prime rib, ham, turkey and "all that other stuff". They only receive mail once a week. He asked us to send as much as we want because he gets bored at night. Said that he will be able to call in a week or so. He also said that he has the job of section leader. There are four sections in the division each with a leader. So, three others have a recruit that is a section leader.

The letter was definitely the most exciting part of my day. Hang in there everyone I know your letters are on the way.

Oh my goodness. I think I need to stop working, I seem to miss so much during the day! For all of you still waiting for a letter from your SR, my heart goes out to you. Thanks for the flag tip, Kat. My husband has wanted one of those flags, neighbors have one in the window for their son. Just ordered mine too!
