Binoculars or a HUGE zoom on your camera are a great idea for PIR!

Ok, well THAT can be a problem! HA! Find out where they will be standing in the formation (they practice the week beforehand so they know). My son had 8 or 9 divisions in his. I never saw him. And, yes, he told me where he would be. But he was in the middle and short....didn't see him until afterwards and then on the PIR DVD. Be sure to order that after PIR in the NEX if your sailor didn't get it ($29 I think). SO worth it!

PIR 9/2 had 14 divisions! So there are all sizes!

I can imagine! i know i cant wait!!! I am amazed that 400 potential sailors is small! how do you find your own child among them all???

It will still be a sight to see on PIR day! Believe me! When they march in, division by division, in those blue uniforms....tears tears tears! Such a wonderful moment!
Comment by Laura (ship 2 div 909) on November 30, 2010 at 7:57pm
thank you! so it is a small group with still almost 400 ssailors !!! wow!
Comment by diannep on November 30, 2010 at 7:55pm
Some of them are just small....I have seen those with just 5 divisions several times since I have been on this site. In August, there were actually 2 PIR groups with 5 divisions. I have no idea why!
Comment by diannep on November 30, 2010 at 7:53pm
Laura: There are 2 sets of brother divisions in here (49+50. 51+52). They train together and will do BStations together. Div 909 will either go on its own for BattleStations or with 2 brother divisions. Too early to know.

The divisions start out with around 88 people but lose some of them, then gain some others (those who had been setback in earlier PIR groups). My son's ended up with around 65 when he graduated.
