Hi Ladies, I worked a 16 hour day yesterday and came home to no word from my son but an inbox overloaded with email notifications from Navy4Moms!!! I hope the Ramada is ready to be invaded on January 20th! We are definitely a special bread!!! I'm hoping no news is good news for now. Kathy- I'm sure your son will be fine once his body figures out all the stuff they put in it is supposed to do good! ;o)

Kathy: I so totally understand your concern for the immunizations, etc. We are "natural" people...lots of vitamins, exercise, no meds....my 2 sons' pediatrician used to tell me that he could never make a living just off of our family since we would just go in for the once-a-yr visit. I hated that my son had to get all of these shots...and tried to see if he could opt out (online) before he left. Well no way! I have been praying that his immune system would not be compromised...and that it could reject anything that would harm him. Of course, I don't think he takes the vitamins anymore...but at least he is exercising and hopefully eating ok....hopefully your son also has a great immune system too from his healthy upbringing and will fight this stuff in him! I know that I had heard that the "peanut butter" shot hurt like heck....huge needle....ouch. My son never mentioned it but I had read about it on here...asked him after bc. He said, "Yep, that one hurt pretty bad." It is a HUGE antibiotic shot, from what I was told, to protect against lots of stuff....including STD's. Gross....I hated that one because again, I managed to keep my boys off antibiotics growing up...then Navy son gets hit with the mother of all antibiotic shots! Not a happy mom about that one...

Here's hoping for more "happy dances" at the mailbox with letters arriving ...and phone calls too! Even if just an "info" call with Navy personnel lurking (i.e., brief call), it is great to hear their voices.

Wow Kathy...I don't know where your divisions RDCs came from but they must have come from Planet NICE....that is the first I have heard of being able to send out one letter a day...my son sent lettes on Mondays only for the first four weeks...so count yourself very lucky...lol. sorry he had a bad reaction...i wonder if that gamma globulin got him in the muscle...that is a sucker for stiffening you know...nasty one...

just want to remind you that you cannot send letters addressed to 'any sailor" even to a specific address...since 9/11 this has changed...you must have a full name and address...now you can send a letter like this if you place it in an envelope and send it your recruit and ask them to give it out...just trying to clarify so you don't wonder what happened to your letter....

Kathy, so sorry to hear about your son's reaction to immunization. I have not heard from my son in same ship and division as your son. I'll just keep writing to him.

I received my first letter today! It's unbelievable, how a piece of paper can make your emotions run from one extreme to another. I went from bursting into tears, when I saw the letter in the mailbox...to bursting into laughter, when I read his letter. This was a very good day!
