~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Good morning. I was checking my SR's bank account and noticed that there hasn't been any activity since he left. Don't they get paid the 1st and the 15th of the month?

@HuskerFan  @Thewatchgoddess - My SR had wisdom teeth removed. The dentist was trying to get a fragment out and kept digging tried to remove part of his jaw bone that she thought was the fragment! He is all bruised on the side of his face. He was put on SIQ for several days (bed rest), and then the light duty, no PT. Was given vicodin for the pain. On top of that he has an upper respiratory infection. So, he is not having too much fun. But he did say on the positive side that the food is GREAT. lol Men/Boys and their stomachs.

@ HuskerFan
It definitely takes a lot out of you to work retail. I loved it for years, but I think this may be my last holiday season. I no longer have the patience or the drive to deal with crazy hours or crazy people. So once SR gets settled in at A School, I'm going to find something a little less stress with more "normal" hours.
I'm glad your SR has such a great bunk mate and is making friends. And that he recovered well! Hopefully he'll continue to create great relationships with his shipmates throughout his career.
My SR seems to have made a few buddies, but not many. That's unusual for him, because he's normally a social butterfly. I think the fact that he's older than a lot of his division and has a different viewpoint has made it harder to bond. He's not doing this just for his future, but for our future. It drives him nuts to be putting in 110% and working his butt off, only to lose privileges due to poor behavior by a few in his division.
And of course, all I can do is support him and remind him that I love him and I'm proud of him. And remind him that once he goes to A School it'll be a mostly new group of people with a little more in common with him.

Good Morning!  Hope all have a great weekend!

Oh goodness @Thewatchgoddess bless your heart for working retail!  I used to own a retail business.  I don't know if I could ever do it again.  I know what you mean about them going thru this without you!  Their buddies will help them get thru it.  Mine did better than I had expected.  He said his bunk mate helped him a lot!  So know that they are making good friends.  My guys doesn't typically have a lot of friends so I was very happy to hear how he did without me! :-)  They will give them a couple of days of laying in their bunk, doing nothing, then a few days of light duty work before back to full duty.

Huskerfan,
I hope your SR feels/felt better quickly. I haven't had my wisdom teeth pulled yet, but I've heard some awful stories about it. Hopefully he'll be more talkative in your next letter!
My SR was scheduled to have his teeth pulled on the 12th, and they were planning on putting him under because the roots are quite close to the nerve in his lower jaw. I can only hope that went well and I'm not really expecting "talkative" letters next week. I hate that he is having to go through this alone with no one to really take care of him.
And I really don't think anyone can blame you for only making the trip for PIR. We all only do what we can. I never got the form, but not only would we not be able to afford two trips to Chicago, work would freak. I'll be lucky enough to still have my job after PIR. Taking a weekend off during black out dates and mandatory scheduling isn't really taken well in the retail world. :-/

@Thewatchgoddess - I got a letter from my SR today too.  He wasn't as "talkative" in this one as he was last week.  Although he wasn't feeling as well with having his teeth pulled and such.  I keep forgetting to ask if he's been "adopted" yet or not.  We aren't able to make the trip to Chicago for Thanksgiving since we are going for PIR.  With 5 kiddos we just can't afford to do both.  Sigh..

@ Jennifer.
I'm all about reading what my SR is going through! Sadly I missed his last call. I just have to cross my fingers and hope that they get a chance to call soon.

Who else does the happy dance when they get letters? :-) I love reading about what my SR is doing. Looks like he joined the many others getting their wisdom teeth out.
