~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

How long do they get for thanksgiving day? I heard only a couple of hours, is that true?

userdeedee was mailed the form, and it isn't being used and has writing on it now, so that is why it should be ok to use another one.

Thanks all.  Simply put I had received the form from my SR with his form letter but I don't have it anymore and hubby decided last night that he wants to see our SR so the hunt began.

Thanks for all for your help and empathy.

There were a couple of other Moms that were able to use this form, but I think that the key is that only certain divisions are eligible because you have to have completed a certain amount of weeks in Boot Camp.  Also, there are a few that may have watch at different times during the day.  I do know that the entire 906 division has been adopted out for the day on Thanksgiving if they are not individually adopted.

Just a note on the Adopt a Sailor form.  I understand userdeedee's situation and hope that she can use the one on the link here.  However, here is info that was posted a while ago about the forms for any others thinking they can copy and mail in.  Seems that only your SR can mail you this form, you can not copy and mail in yourself.  If your SR didn't mail you one (and only one allowed per SR), you cannot copy this and mail it in.  Here is a link that explains it from Angie who works up there:
