OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

My SR is in ship 11 Div 041 also.  No letter from him as of yet.  When I spoke to him on Sat he said he had not received any letters yet and didn't have time to write any either. I hoping for something this week. I'm in So Ca.

@ Tiffany -- Your image of stalking the mail carrier made my day!  It's reassuring to know others have the same impulses!  :)

@ Jennifer @ bprincessmom @ Judy P @ Hummingbird -- Thank you all for sharing!  I'm sure all our letters are on their way.  Today was just a blue day for me!  Hope you can all come our for PIR!  We'll be there.  BTW, when my son called on Saturday, he had received some of our letters, but we actually started mailing the day after he left, so hopefully all your SRs will get your mail soon, too.  Hugs to everyone!

Ship 11 DIV 041. No letter for me yet either. When I spoke to SR on Saturday. He had received only two of the letters I sent, but hadn't had time to read them. He was hoping to write on Sunday for a mail out on Monday. I laid off the stalking of my mail carrier for a few days but now it's game on again:) I'm in Washington state.

I am so grateful for this site and the ability to share and know we are all experiencing similar situations.  It would be so much harder thinking it was just me.  Thank you everyone!!

My SR is ship 11 / Div 042.  He too had said he had written a letter and it would go out Sunday.  As of now, I still haven't received it.  When I spoke with him on Saturday he hadn't gotten any of my letters/cards either.  Hoping they are starting to trickle in for our SRs.  I know that will help life their spirits too! :-)

@ Joniana (Helen).. It's understandable!! I'm sure yours is on its way :-)

Yes, I will be arriving on 12/11 for PIR. I am in the process of making hotel accommodations at the moment.

How about you? PIR?

Comment by Hummingbird on November 6, 2013 at 3:08pm

My SR is ship 14 / Div 039, he called on Saturday and I too am hoping my letter is waiting for me when I get home from work today.  I was so sad to hear that he had not received any of my letters yet on Saturday so I am hoping he has started to receive mine as well.  I am in Northern California Bay Area.

Comment by Joniana (Helen) on November 6, 2013 at 2:48pm

@ Judy P, thanks.  We're near Boston.  Nothing today, and even though we spoke with him on Saturday, for some reason, I'm really blue about not getting anything today.  Guess it's just all caught up with me!  Are you able to come out for PIR?
