Hi fellow Ship 04, Div. 19 Moms.  I thought we could start this "discussion" group since we all have something in common and go back to the main PIR 12/16/2011 group whenever we have questions for all of the veteran moms who have been so helpful.  We're in this together!

My Sailor proposed to his girlfriend on the Drill Deck!!!! We only had 8 hours with him before he had to be back ot pack up for his midnight flight to A School!!   I hate saying goodbye after only 8 hours.  He's been gone since October 5th, now he's gone again.  I'm so proud of him, just greedy for more time with my boy.

Hi my son also proposed to his girlfriend while on liberty, I guess there were 3 guys that did this. So exciting. My son also went to A school in Pensacola, and I had a hard time letting go again also, But he is getting leave and will be flying home later today. We just have to make the most of the time we do get together.

What a wonderful, amazing time we had! We drove 850 miles Wednesday/Thurs morn. and went to Sarge's M&G greet. Had a great time meeting many of the moms I've been talking with online. The excitement was palpable that evening! Then Thursday morning I was fortunate enough to have a spot almost on the first row and was off and running as soon as they called liberty. My son is changed yet the same. He's very serious and very courteous. When we went out and about he was very observant and seemed to only want to sit around and spend time talking with us. It was a very relaxing weekend. We really wanted to go into Chicago, but we just kept sitting around talking and soaking him up that we just never got around to it. We did however get to take him to the Mills Mall because he wanted to look at watches and pick up some sunglasses. He ended up finding them both at the BIG commissary near base for way way cheaper. lol SAME ones! Anyways, we drove all yesterday after seeing for a bit and made it home around 3 am. We are very road weary but so worth it. He has been told that flights may be at a premium if not all sold out on the 22nd so I may be driving another 400 to go get him. Selfishly speaking, I'd LOVE to have a day with him in a car taking turns driving and talking the entire way. :) Hope everyone enjoyed their time with their Sailors. While I knew it would be a life-changing event for my son, I had no idea how much it would change me too. :) Hugs everyone.
