Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Liberty is time off, like on weekend or holiday. They can leave the base but have to be back by a certain time. They can have the weekend off but suddenly be called in and have to come to base. With my daughter she is already with her command. Today is Friday and she will have liberty from the time she gets off today until she has to be back at work on Monday. There is a limit of how far she is allowed to go away from base. Sometimes they have watch on a weekend and don't have liberty. Leave is time off like a vacation. They have to put in a CHIT and tell their command where they are going and get permission to go. They build leave days each month and if they have enough days built up they can put in a CHIT to get that time off and go where they want (like HOME) :-) That's the best explanation I have and how it was explained to me.

For the Sailors in this PIR date...they will have their liberty following PIR and then go on to their "A" schools as usual. They will have to apply for leave at there new command. There is no special leave. When I can get to a real computer I will post a blog post that explains Liberty vs. Leave.

To Jajajo - mail the letters. If you are sure he's in ship 04 div 019, then mail them. Do you need the full address?

FTLW-saw the post on 12/29/11 PIR about holiday leave time. Has there been any mention about holiday leave time for the 12/16 PIR graduates?

Going to spend Thanksgiving with my sailor in VA! Yeah! Just decided this morning to do that. This is the 3rd one he has missed with family here in Miami because he has been in the Navy. So will spend 2 days with him. Hoping to get to see one of my N4Moms friends then too. Haven't seen my sailor since Christmas. He spent his leave during the year visiting a gf. ...sigh...
