thank you lala.  Looking forward to FTLW's final word!  I spoke with my son's recruiter and he said that they will likely have the PIR that next week...the Wed. or Thurs. before Christmas but referred me to the form letter AND said - that Navy For Mom's website is a good tool to use to be in the know of what is going on.  LOVE THAT.

ArNavyMom- I am just not sure. I heard they are not going to have a PIR group the Friday before Christmas so that would probably mean that his PIR will be Dec 29th or 30th. (They may have it on Thursday that week) I believe FTLW was the one who had the info about no PIR Christmas week so maybe she will post something about that in a little while. This is all different than what they did last year but you should hear something from him soon when you get the form letter.

So there are only 5 divisions for this PIR date? Will there be more?

Site just updated for PIR -

TG 05 — 05 Divisions (017–020 & 905) Graduate Dec. 16, 2011

My son is in Division 021.  What are the chances his PIR will indeed be before Christmas?

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on October 31, 2011 at 8:41am
jajajo- there is no way to know if they will get leave for Christmas. Most of the bases will be on stand down but since they will have just gotten to their A-school base I doubt you will be able to get a definite answer until they get there. If they do get leave they probably wouldn't be allowed to go more than 50 miles from base and may not be able to leave with the base at all without a parent or spouse because they would not have been there long enough to phase up yet. It is just so hard to know what they will be allowed to do and then at best it would just be a guess. I believe last year those who had PIR at Christmas got to go home for a week or so but it my understanding they are not having a PIR group this year the week of Christmas so I am unsure of how it will all play out. Sorry, I wish I had all the right answers for you :-(

What does the sign say? did you order it from Vista prints?
Comment by momshousedivided2-Sh 09 Div 023 on October 31, 2011 at 8:25am
Yes it is the one we hang up at the house everytime they come home.
Comment by diannep on October 31, 2011 at 8:04am

momshousedivided.  SO great that you have two serving our country!  Wonderful!!!

On the sign, is this one you are putting up on your house?  They don't allow signs at PIR, so just wanted to make sure you knew that.

Good morning, everyone!

Thanks Lala. Yeah, I was definitely planning on staying through Sunday. Do you know if the people going on to A school in Pensacola will be granted leave for the Christmas holiday the following weekend after graduation?
Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on October 31, 2011 at 7:34am

Good Morning and Happy Halloween or if you prefer happy Monday :-) I hope you all have a great week.

Jajajo- If A-school is in Pensacola they will have liberty on Friday after PIR and you will have them for about 7 hours the day of PIR. Most of them will leave the base around 2-5 am early Saturday morning and be taken to an airport. From their their flight can be pretty much anytime throughout the day. Some leave very early like 6am and some hanging in the airport until 4 or 5pm or even later. If there are not enough flights available then some may have liberty on Saturday and not leave until Sunday. They won't know what time their flight is or from which airport they will be leaving until the day before or morning of PIR. And, you won't know until they tell you in person at PIR. That is why we recommend that you plan to stay for the weekend just in case they do get lucky and get the whole weekend with you. It doesn't happen often but it does happen. And in most cases you can meet them at the airport and spend a few hours with them until their flight. That is when you can give them their cell phones and/or Laptops and a few other personal items.
