For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security
Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.
DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.
DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Good morning, all. I'm getting more and more excited about a possible call on TG day. :) I didn't hear from my SR son at all last week when calls went out, so it's going to be a very tearful call (for me). The turkey can burn and the potatoes can boil over... I will be on the phone!!! lol Hugs everyone.

Jajajo, my son graduated from BC last year and he was adopted by the Country Club for Thanksgiving. They were allowed to use the cell phones of the volunteers who worked it to call home.
There is no rhyme or reason on how much time they will have, if they are allowed to call, but I was on the phone with my son for 45 minutes. It was like heaven to me. Btw, *hint for everyone... if you do get a call on Thanksgiving, you may want to ask them to text you a picture of them as well. They may be able to do that too.

Celia: I'm sure your son will do fine. Even though they are in a push division, they still have time to complete everything. So hopefully all is good!

Jajajo: My son got to call on Thanksgiving a couple of years ago when he had first arrived at RTC. Very short call (maybe 5 minutes) but wonderful that he could call. Funny...he had only been there for 3 days. He said, "Mom, its not so bad. They really don't yell at you so much." Well, when I heard from him a couple of weeks later...YIKES....he said, "Things sure changed!!" HA!

I found this post on RTC FB today.
U.S. Navy Recruit Training Command Good! We like making peoples' days...especially Mondays. The generosity of the organizations is overwhelming. They provide a full-on feast complete with desserts and all the food is donated by the community. One organization has a gentleman who donated 46 turkeys. !!!
The community swings by the event to allow the recruits the use of their cell phones to call loved ones; tvs, computers, video games, movies are all donated for their use as well.

Well...no guarantee...but I am sure that the families that are adopting them are very aware how important it is...and the community organizations do this each year and know too. I have a couple of posts saved from RTC FB about what they do for them...I'll find and post.

My only concern with the push division is that it's that much less time to train for the PFA. My son is probably one of those having a little trouble with that. Just have to see how he's doing when we speak to him on Thursday.
