Hi Angela, Great note. We got a letter from our son yesterday and today. He is definitely struggling, and feels dejected, but part of that too has to do with the fact that he has a cold and isn't feeling well. He also said he likes the food! :) He said he passed his swim test and also said he had his wisdom teeth taken out!! That's a shock! :) I'll be eager to hear what transpired to require that. He said he is indeed getting our letters and that they really did come in at just the right time because he needed the encouragement. Thanks for sharing, Angela.
Today was a Veteran's Day event where I work and we had a local high school ROTC come present colors. With them was their Petty Officer who also happens to be a retired RDC! He gave me SO SO SO much information about bootcamp!! And contrary to some who've told me that this is a holiday for our recruits, it's not. They just don't have classroom time today, otherwise, it's PT as usual. Maybe they'll have more time this evening for visiting or writing home, but they will still be just as tired. And don't expect a phone call until about week 3. :) I know there was a lot more he told me, but I'm still digesting. lol
Hi everyone. I don't get on here as much as I'd like because I'm using the mobile version which isn't too easy (IMO). I got a packet of letters yesterday. What a joyful day it was... and filled with tears as well. He wrote 7 letters: 5 to me and 1 each to dad and sister. He is pretty miserable, but doing well regardless. He has a couple of friends he's made, thankfully. He says he misses music the most and that the food is AAAAmazing. lol He loves the pics I've been sending and wants more. :) And he has been fitted with glasses for the first time in his life. Imagine, never having worn lenses and now has to wear the bootcamp frames. That'll be a great story when he gets home. I've always had him checked but I guess something changed with his eyesight in the last year or so... Hugs to everyone.
Lala, beautiful pictures!
HEY :) MY SR IS IN THE DIVISION :)
They get a check every two weeks starting about 2-3 weeks after they arrive.
Lala-thanks for sharing. :) Awesome!
