Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security)
(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

 • Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

First of all...Congratulations to all the new SAILORS! So proud of my son and all the new sailors :) Second...I can not be at PIR so I am so grateful to have this site to see all the comments and pictures of those who can so I can experience it thru you all :) thanks for sharing! LASTLY...I have a silly question. Since my son is now a sailor do I change my name to something different on here? Thanks :)

denise:  I would imagine you are doing the usual "circle RTC a million times" thing like most of us did.  Just knowing he is "in there."  I had my older son with me and he thought I was ridiculous....well....whats new?  Just was strange that he was so close...but we couldn't see him!  But this time tomorrow....you will be in total bliss!

You are very welcome, bamamom!  Hey, maybe you all can take the train into Chicago???  But then again, walking around Chicago on a dreary day like you are having would not be fun.  :-(  There's always Gurnee Mall!

Stay warm and dry!

My family arrived safely to Chicago this morning...This wonderful rain and cold has put a damper (no pun intended) on my daughters plans of sightseeing today. My plan of enjoying this nice, comfy bed have worked out just fine...ha!

I am very thankful that everyone has arrived safely and that all others will have a safe and pleasant trip.

Congrats to all that have rec'd calls from their Sailors! I love that word..SAILOR! It rolls off the tongue so well.

I would also like to thank FTLW, diannep, ribbonqueen and many others for helping me through the journey of being a NAVYMOM!  You have made this experience much easier and greater than I ever expected. THANK YOU FOR ALL THAT YOU DO!

P.S. Could you please make the sun come out? :)

So he yelled in my ear!!!! Now I 'm 10 minutes away from him and can't see him. AUGHHHHHH!!! 23 more hours!!!!! He said they will have some sort of party today......Congratulations to all our New Sailors xoxoxoxoxo

Prayers for travel mercies for you all today with that weather system moving in...Sarge will have his hands full trying to battle this weather and get you all to your hotels and PIR!  But if anyone can do it, he can!

MommaJeri:  If you want to see horrible drivers, pay us a visit down here in Miami.  You name it, we see it here.  An awful place to drive, especially for young drivers.

Hope you enjoy your stay at Residence...we did!

Good Morning Ladies --- 24 hrs from now, many of you will be entering PIR Hall!  For one of the most OUTSTANDING (one of the Navy's fav words) celebrations you have ever witnessed, with your sailor as the "star!"  Enjoy!  Remember, "early" is the name of the game tomorrow.  Traffic builds up quickly so be early.  Sarge will have some great hints for you tonight at his MeetandGreet so try to make that one if you can.

Good Morning from Great Lakes! We arrived Wed afternoon about 4pm (drove from Omaha) with the storm nippin' at our heels. And holy cow...there are a lot of terrible  drivers here!!! ROFL Currently windy & raining here, but the snow is expected later today. Staying at the Residence Inn and will be at Sarge's Meet & Greet tonight. Safe travels to all today!! ONE MORE DAY! :)

I posted this yesterday.

I have emailed PAO about weather, entrances and photgraphy for you :-)

Here is what I found out:

Generic on the entrances and weather.. Staff will direct you on accessing the PIR hall and Security personnel will and employ procedures to ensure your safety in inclement weather.

I actually thought to myself while I was tyoing the email, "I wonder if they will answer this as it involves "detail" and is really none of my business as I could be anybody asking how to get into PIR." BUT, it was worth a try. :-)

PHOTOGRAPHY...

...is authorized IN the Visitors Center and within the Ceremonial Drill Hall. So you can take Pictures in the VC :-),  (again not outdoors anywhere).

That's all Folks!
