N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security)
(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

 • Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Since I haven't gotten my letter I'm just going by what the recruiter told him during one of their meetings before he left...my fingers and toes are crossed that this is true !!!

My son is Air Rescue.  Thinking A school will be in FL but not sure.

@tyrychadship04div803 my boyfriend just got moved to that divison from 802. He has been gone since 10/2. It depends what career path your SR has chosen. Mine has a SEAL contract so will go to BUD/S prep in the GL for another few months until shipping out to Coronado for BUD/S probably around February when all the new class is full and ready to begin.. And 12/21 is the right PIR!

Thanks texasnavymom!  Appreciate the information.  I figured it was wrong.  Sounds like our boys are on the same path!

robinbird1 The PIR date should be on the letter you received.   It is written in by your Sailor.

Comment by Felicia TEXASNAVYMOM on November 4, 2012 at 12:46pm

@tyrychadShip04Div803  Your son is in the same division as my son Jared.  It is the Special Ops division.  Your PIR date is Incorrect.   The whole division was told the wrong dates and everyones letters are wrong.   I confirmed it with the Bootcamp Training Command Center.   My son left home on Sunday 22nd to San Antonio then to Chicago on 23rd.

My Sailors are supposed to be home for Christmas this year and we are so excited about that. Especially since our daughter will deploy the first part of the year. We will be celebrating both of their birthdays while they are home for Christmas. My Sailor will be 23 Dec 1 and her hubby/Sailor will be 23 Dec 29. Lots of parties for us lol

tyeychad, that is odd that it would have 12/20 as the PIR date. I bet he wrote it down wrong and it is most likely 12/21 instead. They wouldn't have two PIR's that close together, or at least they never have before.

Comment by Cleaver6 on November 4, 2012 at 12:21pm

As far as I know, all PIR dates, with very rare exceptions, occur every Friday, so the 12/20 date is probably going to be 12/21. The exceptions are for major holidays, i.e. Christmas or New Years falling on a Friday. In those cases, there usually is not a graduation.

We are from Mesa, Arizona. My son will turn 18 on 12/14.

He still has his sense of humor. He addressed the form letter to Homer, one of our dogs. His list of PIR guests included me, my wife, his girlfriend, and Oreos. Sigh...He's a kook.
