N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security)
(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

 • Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Welcome Cleaver6! We love having Dads join us!

Sounds like your son was a senior Division that participated in the Christmas Adopt-A-Sailor Program.

They do Adopt-A-Sailor for Senior Divisions who will be at RTC in training for Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Again, it plays out differently. Cleaver6 is very correct...wait and see.

To let you know, I check the RTC website and the RTC FB page often...more so this time of year, for any release of information and get it back here ASAP to you all.

I understand how stressful this...believe me I do...my husbands only two deployments...were ironically at Christmas time.

If you want to do that, you can.  If you think it is better to wait to avoid confusion, that is good too.  Or if you want to send me a private note, that works.    Whatever works best for you.

My older son was still in boot camp over Christmas last year. His division was taken to a Chicago area church for Christmas dinner.

This year, since our sons PIR is before Christmas, I don't really know what's going to happen. The assumption, since he left a week early for a so-called "push" division, is that they will get either liberty (local area) for more than one day, or actual leave, to travel home. Wait and see...

Christmas is different every year as the PIR's for December are different every year. If you really would like to know what happened on 2011 and 2010, I can write out a detailed post for you :-) I haven't done it as I did not want to confuse anyone, since we do not have official word from RTC as to what is going to happen this year. But, I can put a disclaimer at the beginning saying that it is just an example if what has happened. :-)

we reserved our hotel...so excited about the graduation!  Looking forward to our first letter from our SR.

Cleaver6 - our son is Ship 13, Div 034 also.  You are the first one that we have seen that has the same Ship & div.   So if your other son did this almost exactly a year ago, how did they handle Christmas? I'm sure that's the question that all the moms are dying to know.

Comment by Cleaver6 on November 3, 2012 at 2:23pm

Hi everyone. I'm a dad (Navy Dads doesn't have nearly as much use, heh) of one sailor already and my youngest son's form letter arrived. He's in Ship 13, Div 034.

We just went through this almost exactly one year ago with his brother. I'll answer as many questions as I can.

Hey Ya'll - we got ours, too!  Woot woot!. (Ship 02 Div 905) I made it to the post office just in time before the cut-off.....whew!  got writer's cramps with 9 letters to address.  Big smiles in Lower Alabama. :)))))))

Comment by Jademita (Ship11Div038) on November 3, 2012 at 1:11pm

Hi Ladies, got my form letter this morning so excited! Ship 11 Div 038. Anyone else's SR with the same? Have a great day! I am off to the post office!
