N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security)
(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

 • Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

bamanavymom - Sorry about your missed call. I don't think our SR's can write yet, so I don't expect to receive a letter for another couple of weeks.

My daughter tried to call me when I was in a meeting at work. I missed it by 4 minutes. I was upset all day. I carry my phone with me everywhere .....even the bathroom ....I know TMI... But I cannot keep it on when I am speaking in meetings. I have been so sad since it happened. I know we get so few chances to talk to them. The good news is she did talk to her dad. She is a momma's girl and as she became an adult....my best friend. She was only allowed a brief call to get some information for her security clearance. We still do no have any letters from her but we are writing her everyday since we received her address on the form letter. She left on October 23rd. Has anyone received a letter from their SR yet?
Comment by diannep on November 3, 2012 at 10:43am

Felicia:  Yes, it is hard for those still waiting for the form letters, but they usually eventually get there....happy for those getting them, and prayers that the rest will arrive shortly!

Again, ladies, if you do not receive the form letter in the next couple of weeks, think if it could have been mailed to anyone else.  They can only send out one.  You can also call RTC to confirm your SR's grad date (hopefully!).

Good morning everyone, sorry I have been MIA for a couple days. i was subbing, Thursday was 5th grade and supposed to be the same on Friday and we were going on a field trip but I got moved to 3rd grade so no field trip for me lol. I felt like I forgot my permission slip lol. So busy busy evenings and family here this weekend. I had lots to get done. Now I am working on a Tee-shirt quilt got my Sailor :-) and i have to have it finished and in the mail by Monday YIKES. I hope you all are doing well and have a wonderful weekend

Hang in there everyone, and write a letter every day if possible. They will be begging for them once they start getting mail call :-) Remember the days drag by but the weeks pass quickly.

@diannep.  I received my son's letter a few days after he arrived at bootcamp.  I just feel sorry for those moms who have not gotten theirs yet.

Hang in there ladies regarding the PIR form/ box. I didn't receive my PIR form from my boyfriend until about the 3rd week. It came with his first letter. Sometimes they hold them from sending any mail out at all until Sundays.. That was the case for mine.

Comment by erush89 on November 2, 2012 at 8:46pm

I haven't gotten the letter or box yet. I live in Louisiana. There are probably some delays because of the mess that Sandy made. A lot of roads have been closed. I'm anxiously waiting to get something, though. It's so sad to look in the empty mailbox everyday.

Comment by RanesMom(Ship02Div905) on November 2, 2012 at 8:21pm

We are still waiting, too, but we realize we are waaay down south and in a rural area.  Looking forward to the mail truck tomorrow!  :)  I will continue to repeat:  Patience IS a virtue.  hehe.

Comment by lipperk07 on November 2, 2012 at 8:16pm

still waiting.. learning patience as i go. Stay strong ladies!

Comment by diannep on November 2, 2012 at 8:04pm

Ladies, some of the form letters can take a while to arrive.  We never have quite figured that out, but figured it is just a mail service/location issue.  So hopefully all will receive them soon.

Has anyone considered bringing the family pet (if driving) to reunite with your new sailor after PIR?  If so, Residence Inn Waukegan is pet friendly!  We stayed there..nice...PIR shuttle, hot buffet breakfast, close to SARGES MeetandGreet held the night before PIR (great info there).  Just thought I would throw that out there.  Saw a beautiful Golden Retriever there when we went to my son's PIR.
