N4M's Community Guidelines and OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security)
(Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips)

This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way.

The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

 • Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for your personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Felicia TEXASNAVYMOM - I did not get my form letter. That info was from the recruiter. I still don't know what is going on...
Comment by diannep on November 2, 2012 at 7:47pm

Felicia:  Exactly on the lost form letters.  It happens sometimes---seems so unfair but that is RTCs policy.  Actually the SR should remember the password.  We have never heard that was a problem in previous groups.  I can tell you from being on this site for almost 3 yrs now....RTC has never given out a password to anyone, unless a SR was asmoed (setback) and needed one for their new PIR group when they resumed training.  In that case, the family member would have to give the old password/PIR group before given the new one.

Zman... I am so happy you got your letter?   Thats good even if you are not excited about the PIR date.   :0(

Here is the standard basics of what happens for Liberty after PIR:

From the Family Guide by RTC: (Italics and Bold mine)

DEPARTING RECRUIT TRAINING COMMAND AFTER PASS-IN-REVIEW

Sailors transferring to Great Lakes “A” School:

If your new Sailor is attending “A” school in Great Lakes please note they will need to check into their new command before they can go on liberty. The Great Lakes “A” schools are not located onboard Recruit Training Command. The check-in process may take up to 5 hours. Please ensure your Sailor has your phone number so they can contact you once they have completed the check-in process.

Sailors transferring to “A” School Outside of Great Lakes:

If your new Sailor is attending “A” School outside of Great Lakes, generally they will depart RTC the day after graduation. Travel arrangements are made by RTC; therefore, Sailors are required to travel on their government orders. If your Sailor is flying out of state they must travel to the airport using government transportation, you may not escort them to the airport; however, you may meet them at the airport.

HOWEVER, This TG may be unique as it has PIR on the start day of the Holiday Leave period.

So, the above may or may not apply. When RTC releases something we will post the information.

Leave and Liberty are Different.

Here is my PAGE on;

After PIR – Liberty; Sailors Departures from RTC (clickable link)

PAGES is located directly below the GROUP Members Pictures. I will be adding more info for the GROUP there soon.

Zman'smom - Right now, this TG only goes up to Division 38 for Regular Divisions. So my answer is...I don't know.

cinders just reported receiving her Form Letter with 905 having PIR on this date. So, that's one missing group.

Please stay here until you get your Form Letter. You may very well be in the next PIR GROUP. I know...one week later :-(

southcarolinamom - When my son called he asked for two more referances other than the ones that were on his list. Name, address, phone number.

Not everyone who has a security clearance will call home for more info.

Felicia TEXASNAVYMOM - I'm in Phoenix, Az.
Comment by Zman'smom on November 2, 2012 at 6:11pm
FTLW - No form letter yet, so I called my son's recruiter. He looked up the info and nothing has changed. He is Ship 03 Div 039 as of the computer. He left for GL on 25 Oct. Could this be your missing Division (039)??
