Welcome Gaile! I have not recieved a call or a letter yet. I am getting a little sad. I just checked the mail and feel like crying. I sure wish that I could just have some communication. This really stinks. Feeling a little sorry for myself. LOL!!! How does everyone else deal with this. Its exhausting.

Hi
Just joined. Is there anyone from Ship02 Div 906 out there? We just received a call from T. Sounds good, tired, but happy. So good to hear him!

Talk about freak out: I missed J's call home. I have felt horrible about it since so I have "program'd" myself to his sleeping schedule and the phone never leaves my side. This morning I didn't feel like getting out of the bed and I kept hitting the snooze button. Well my phone starts ringing... I roll over.. look at the callerid and I see the "area code". I sit up and hit the pretty green button and as soon as I say hello... I hear it hang up. OH MAN I was starting to get upset and I just waited on the voicemail. And then the noise sounded that I had a voicemail. I press and hold 1 waiting to hear J's voice and sad/excited to hear what he had to say... it wasn't J. It was Ramada Inn returning my call about the M&G. I was SOOOOO relieved to know I didn't miss his call.

Kathy...I am sure missing that call was tough. It is hard to know when another one will come, it really depends on how the division is doing and how the RDCs feel about calls. Some divisions get several, others get 3 total: one when they get there, one at about 3 weeks, and the I'm a sailor call. In terms of mail, once they start getting mail they get it everyday except Sunday. Initially they can only write on Sundays. About week four this changes and they are given some time to write on Tues and Thurs as well, and that is fun because I got a lot more letters then. I know it is tough and my heart breaks for you that you missed that phone call, but just keep writing those letters and your recruit will know how much you care....

The Navy Lodge is very inexpensive. When we stayed a few months ago it was only $65 a night and there is no tax added. You reserve it in your sailors name and they will tell you that your sailor needs to come by after PIR and show ID but we never had to do that at all. They have kitchenettes with a small kitchen, stove, frig, microwave etc with 2 queen beds for the same price you just have to request that type of room. And you can cancel up to the day you arrive.

Try Airtran.com They always seem to have good rates. You can get on an email list for them for specials.

About tickets, I used Air Tran and was 290.00 a piece.
