I made a reservation at Ramada. With the letter it was a flyer with basic information of hotels, tickets and car. The only thing that was cheaper using the code in the flyer was the hotel. Tickets and rental car was more expensive with the codes in the flyer.

Got my ticket from Southwest at $520 total. Bought it about a week ago!

For those of you who are flying to PIR, what's the best rate you found?

We stayed at Residence Inn. Good hotel....PIR shuttle....free hot breakfast in lobby. Good for those traveling in a group as they have full kitchens and 1- or 2-bedroom suites (2-bedroom has 2 baths). And fireplace too!

Most of the hotels I called said that I had up to the day before to cancel. I would go ahead and make those reservartions. I booked the Ramada because it has a pool and hot tub and I thought after the 13 hour drive we might need it!

Those who are making it to PIR 12/22 what are you making for hotel reservations. I have not heard from my son and have not idea what to do. I do not want to wait too much longer as may not get a room. We are driving from Nebraska.

I know Jessica has a bunch more questionaires folks that she can post...these are just 3 little ones I did...especially in the first few weeks these are best. Dianne is also right it is one thing for us to know that RDCs do things to motivate the recruits it is another thing for us to share this knowledge. I never told my son things like this...HOWEVER I did gleefully ask him how his first PFA went, his first swimming test, Marlinspike, etc...and he would be like HOW DID YOU KNOW THAT? Aww the power of discussion in Navy for Moms...lol!! So use what you know to build them up...make them laugh with your knowledge...learn to use terms like muster in and Bravo Zulu which mean well done...ask if anyone is SIQ sick in quarters or been give IT Intensive Training for getting in trouble or a "beating" which is recruit speak for extra physical training because the division got in trouble...it will bring a smile to their face and they will know you are working hard to become navy strong for them as well. Oh and just for fun in your next letter ask them if they or anyone else in their division has had to do any bird watching or swim like fishes...we will be waiting to hear their replies....lol!!
