Ok, ladies. I"m doing a "test" today. I got prices last night for the heck of it on flights from MIA to Ohare and return for US Air. For the first weekend in Dec (just randomly picked like I as in 12/3 PIR)...and after 3 today, I'm going to pull up the same flights and see what the prices are. I have read that there are "fare sales" when you book your ticket on these Tues and Wed no matter what days you are actually flying. So I'm testing it today on this one airlines. I will let you know what I find out. This morning, the price was the same as last night. Maybe some of you want to test other airlines...but I had read that they change after 3 pm.

Also, I read that Bing Travel makes predictions on best times to fly and fares. It is still a guessing game, of course, but maybe some of you want to google Bing Travel and see if you get any useful info.

Another hint: Use something like kayak.com to see what airlines/flights are available to the places you need to go. Then contact the airlines directly. The airlines are claiming that they will meet or beat these discount website prices. I checked that out with kayak when I flew and the airlines direct price was cheaper. I know...we all have to be rocket scientists now to figure this all out...but with a little bit of time and research, I know some find great prices!

That is a good idea, which means I need to change my hotel reservations...AGAIN!! :-) This is a very confusing process!!

Nancy, PAO didn't know when the recruits can leave, only that we should not make travel arrangements untiI we know for sure. I am staying in town until the 19th, so I know we can take A by then.

Yeah, I would believe it as the price with the military discount at the hotels was more than the AAA price.

Do you know if the kids can leave right away? I was planning an evening flight, just in case they had things to take care of. Is your div. a grad n go, cuz ours is.

Nancy, I called some of the airlines, on Saturday. I asked if they had a military discount. Would you believe that with a military discount they were about twice as much as the online prices? It seems like the online prices are with best. You could also try Expedia, Travelocity, Kayak, and Orbitz too.

Betsy, did you go online, or did you call them? thx Trying to get this done tonight! I feel like I am flying people all over the place.

Kona, I found that if you buy a nonrefundable ticket, most airlines will charge you $150 to change it if you have to do that. The only airline that doesn't charge that and will give you a credit on your flight is Southwest and of course they don't fly to Pensacola, which is where my son is going. With my son's flight, the refundable ticket would be the same price of a nonrefundable one, with a change. It didn't matter either way with his flights
