Penny: So glad to hear that your son is doing so well. :)
That's sad to hear that about envelopes being ripped open though...because I kinda just mail my husband's debit card along w/phone card to him (he lost it a month before he left & I found it under the couch cushion).

Holy Cats ladies, you have been busy! I didn't get on yesterday and it took me forever to get through all of the posts that I missed! I have had a great two days...a letter yesterday, and a phone call today! Wahoo! :) I'm so proud of my son! He sounds really good! Said that he got a 5 on inspection and their division did so well they got a division flag! He didn't have to get his wisdom teeth pulled, but said that there are a lot of SRs with chubby cheeks this week! He said his division continues to be close and works well together...YAY Div. 029! :) He said that he has been avoiding sickness, but a lot of people have been sick. He is getting a little run down from standing watch...has it again tonight. Says it is tough because the RDCs come and drill them while they are standing watch!
He was worried about me sending his ATM card because apparently some envelopes have been coming in ripped opened and apparently someone lost an engagement ring out of one?????????
He too is saying that he is only taking 5 days leave, but that A-school in Groton starts Jan 4th. He is driving home with us after PIR...I think my husband might drive him to A-school...but we are supposed to supply driving routes, etc. I hope I can keep everything straight! I only know that it was wonderful to have so much contact with him. ...and he sound great!!!!!!!

Got a phone call from S's bunkmate (his initials are C.M.). Hubby got all four of his wisdom teeth pulled, so he couldn't talk. Wah. C.M. said that he'll prolly call me on Monday, & that he also received one of my letters. I was joking with him and asked if his division is not getting any IT and he goes, "ohhh, no. We're getting plenty of that". Hahah.

Your recruit also should give you an email address or FAX number to send a copy of their itinerary to for their trip from GL to home & to A school. If you would like it, just message me.

It sounded like C.M. was in a rush, so I didn't wanna bombard him with questions about my S or pir lol.

I have heard that some of you have your personal email being bombarded by navy for mom posts lol. I was getting over 500 a day and it was taking forever to find emails that I need to read. So here is how to fix that, if you care to. Go to your page. On the right side of your page there is a list containing inbox, alerts, friends, settings. Click on settings, then on the left click on email and then you can decide what notifications come to your private email. You will still get all your comments, messages, and posts on Navy for Moms, it just won't come to your private email address. :-)

ash/diannep-thanks for the info! in what phase are they gonna be able to have liberty weekend then? ya, we are not planning on anything big yet. and im ok moving by myself at our expense bec. we just plan on like renting a fully furnished apartment. all i have to do is drive up there w my car and were good to go, good thing we dont have a lil one yet. but ones all the paperworks goes out well, moving there at my own expense wont be a problem right?

Ash /Nina: What we have been told is that without special permission, getting married is not allowed over PIR weekend. I know that some have received special permission due to medical conditions of the fiance, etc. and other extenuating circumstances. But I know they can get married in A School once the sailor is "phased up" to have liberty on the weekends and according to the laws of the state they are in (some have a waiting period for the marriage license that is longer than the sailor will be there). Just saying....that anyone planning to get married needs to check it out thoroughly with the Navy beforehand to avoid unpleasant surprises!

ash- since you guys were talkin about getting married :) i figured i would ask if u know, by any chance, are they gonna be able to or be allowed to get married while theyre in a-school, then be able to move in off base w him and get BAH by then?
Comment by navygirlfriend on November 19, 2010 at 2:13am
Oh, no, I can't even begin thinking about marriage yet haha. I'm only 18!
And, yeah, it'd be great to go out there at least once while he's there. But, time will only tell. Patience...is so hard :P
Comment by navygirlfriend on November 19, 2010 at 1:37am
Yes he is. And, yikes :/ But maybe I'll get to visit him during A school.. and at least he can call and text and facebook and such. I guess I'll just have to wait and see...
