Terry, thank you for the tip on the Rite Aid phone card, I am going there this evening, my son has already maxed one out calling us. The calling cards eat up a lot of minutes. Just please don't forget to activate them before sending them to your recruit. My son went through a stage similar, depressed and lonely and feeling his self worth was nothing. I went through my meltdown stage that evening. Wrote him a motivational letter, reminding him of all the reasons he gave me for wanting to go in. That was on Saturday, on Monday I received a letter telling me that he is at peace and moving full speed ahead to becoming a Navy Sailor. Venting is good,

For anyone needing to get phone cards for you recruit,Rite Aid has them buy one get second one FREE with your rewards card.Just thought some would like to know.I went to Walmart and they do not have them.My A is in the stretch of BC where he is rethinking his decision but as my husband told me(he was in the Marines)there will be a breaking point where he will do a complete turn around and will love it.I know that it is the no communication with anyone that is getting to him but we only have 35 days left and they will be done with the hardest part of their training.Sorry ladies I just needed to vent I guess.Being able to do that on here helps tremedously!!!Thanks to all of you!!!

Hmmmm, you are correct. But, seriously, I checked this out about a month ago and there was a report.

I looked up the bedbugreport also.. but I didn't see one fore Ramada Inn. not the 200 N. Green Bay Road. I just double checked and didn't see one.

Rose, I was reading your comment about booking the Ramada Inn. When I was booking, I checked on bedbugregistry.com and the Ramada came up with a reported incident. So, I didn't book there. With AAA, you can get great rates at the Residence Inn. One bedroom, fold out sofa, complete kitchen WITH a dishwasher for $89.00 and at my local Meet and Greet I heard that they will even shop for your room!! There is also a two bedroom suite with the same fold out sofa for $139.00.

Hello everyone, I don't know if it is the same for all divisions, but my son told me last week that he needed us to pay for his ticket home after graduation and his ticket to "A" school. He informed me that the Navy would indeed pay for his ticket to go straight to "A" school. If he wanted to visit home after graduation it would be at his expense, (actually our expense). Once he gets to "A" school, he could request reimbursement for his ticket from home to "A" school, and the Navy would reimburse him the cost of what it would have been for his fare from Great Lakes to "A" school.

Hope this helps!

I sure remember waiting for the first phone calls and letters like many of you. I was half excited for those who got the calls and half jealous. I couldn't figure out why some got calls and others didn't and I sure as heck wished my son was in the division that did. Everytime that phone rang I jumped and ran or scooted in my case...lol! I had nightmares about missing that call and could see my son's sad face....yikes!! I remember that first letter...and I cried just seeing his name on the envelope. His best friend was right there saying...umm could you open it..lol! His letters were up and down. It was important for me to remember I was the only safe person to whom he could vent. By the time i got the letter whatever was bringing him down had passed. They will write, it will take time. Letters typcially arrive between Wed and Sat. Depending on the day they actually started in their division they may not get writing priveleges at the same time another division does so it may be a full week later for some divisions to get a letter than others. This also holds true for phone calls, some divisions are going to get more than others. Oh and to the teacher let me say I know lots of navy moms at work who "broke the rules" when it came to phone calls, one hid under the blanket rack at Walmart, one pretended like she was going to vomit on her way to the rest room...so my advice...do what you have to do...but under the desk is good....lol!!

Nina I went ahead and made our hotel reservations thru the weekend just in case. I am planning on changing the reservations if I get the word from my son. We are driving from Nebraska so I really can't help with the plane ticket. If it were me I would just wait and when you get the word then purchase. He may have to fly in at a different time but at least he will be home. I am really excited to hear from my son to see if it is true. Good luck with your plans.
