N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

I agree with Lala about staying on here in addition to FB group if you are going over there.  Those that don't, in the past, are getting confusing info.

For instance...

Sometimes the info passed on to you by your SRs is not totally accurate (RDCs like to "mess" with them!)....so if you post the info on here, we usually can tell you if it is accurate or not, based on what has been done in the past.  Like...some RDCs tell the SRs that families cannot meet sailors at the airport on the day they fly out to A School....they may tell them that the airport personnel said too many family members come out and they can't have that.  Not True!  The airports welcome sailors and their families.  If there are too many family members with one sailor, all may not receive airlines gate passes to wait at the gate...but they are welcome to hang out in the USO or general area of the airport with the sailors.  Others may tell you that they are flying out on PIR day and only have a couple of hours of liberty....again....Not True!

So, please be sure to post your info here and ask questions here.  We want you all to have complete and accurate info, as best we can provide you!

rayner, that is awesome, it sounds so great and I really wish I could be there to help with that. I can't wait to see the pics :)

For those joining facebook groups please stay active on here to and send your friends from there to here to get all the info and of course bonding that this site has to offer :) There are always several moms on this site who do not "do facebook" and we want them to be able to bond with you all and I am sure they will be happy you are on here too.

I found  it thanks. Does anyone know what they will be doing for Thanksgiving? Was just sad thinking that they would not get a good Thanksgiving meal.

Thanks FTLW.  I will post them everywhere I can.  I would love to see my son dressed in his Navy uniform.  So I will get as many pictures as I can.  I sure every mom feels like that.

From how I understand this the Police Cheif had a son in BC a few years back. He puts this all together.  They make this a real big thing for the recruits.  They send a bus to pick them up and have a police escort down the expressway to thehall.  The fire trucks have their ladders up with a flag on top and the veterans hold flags that the recruits walk thru.  Fried turkeys ham all the home fixin's!  Hopefully their day will be made and so will mine - just seeing them and talking to them.

rayner...how wonderful for you and OF you!

You can also upload photos to your profile page (create albums) on this site as well. AND there is an image link in the toolbar of every reply box on Groups, Blogs etc.

It's not hard to do, the image just has to be stored in your Pictures Library on your computer. Then you use the Image icon and it opens up and tells you what to do. The Image icon is next to the LINK icon.

Last year, I found every video and article I could and created a Discussion with them for the Groups that had Adopt-A- Sailor. :-)

Comment by rayner 33 minutes ago Great!! Then I will have to get on Facebook and post them after Turkey
