N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

FeatheredNest- yeah!! I just received the form letter yesterday and it was postmarked Monday. I live in the Phoenix, Az area. I'd imagine you'd get your letter today. My son's name is Zach. What is your son's name?

Thanks so much Zman'smom. We really appreciate your kind words.

Hi everyone, I am Lala and I have been here helping others get through this experience since 2010. I have a daughter/Sailor who was in the 9oo's DIV and sang in the choir. She met my son-in-law in DEP and they were married while she was in A-school just 4 days before he left for boot camp. He had PIR in OCT 2010 and he is an IT and she is an AO; they are now based in Virginia Beach. I love helping out on here and have met so many people and made lots of new friends. My Navy family is HUGE and I love them all.

Hello everyone!  and we all thought it was going to be the 21st right?  UGH!  I was thrilled to hear that Zman's mom got a letter.  I haven't.  Ugh sigh cry cry cry......

The more I hear about "wisdom teeth being pulled"  I'm wondering perhaps if that is why I haven't heard.  My SR still had his..... yikes!  However I did find out that he is in USS Hopper Ship 03/Div 039.......  anyone out there with the same?

Here is contact info for a great organization that gives out FREE CALLING CARDS!! It is called Calls for Recruits. All you have to do is email them! They will email the "cards" (phone # with PIN numbers) back to you! It's that easy! Just email: callsforrecruits@gmail.com and let them know how appreciative you'd be for some calling cards! They will send you 8 asking that your SR gives 2 of them to other SR's. And if you need more after that, just send another email! Also, they take donations if anyone is wanting to help out with their purchasing more cards.

Hello!

Welcome to your PIR Group!

My Sailor PIR’d on 05/2011. He is a Seabee Reservist. I have been an AF (Security Forces) Reservist wife for 27 + years…I know …not Navy…but I am familiar with military life! We have been through two Deployments…one right after 9/11 and most recently a year ago…our son enlisted while Hubby was in Iraq. This site was a Godsend and helped me get through not only our sons BC experience but my husbands and my separation for 6 months.

I am a “veteran” mom on the PIR groups mostly. I have been on them now for over a year and we have 7-8 PIR groups running at the same time.

I will check in here to see if I can answer any questions and lend support. There will be a few other veteran moms along to lend a hand and support you all through your PIR experience. Others drop in occasionally too…plus we are always looking for more to “join the ranks”. Things change in the military and we like to give out the most current info that we can so moms that have just gone through this help a lot.

I have a lot of PAGES with information to provide you along the way. I will post as the subjects come up! Please ask any and all questions…there are NO dumb ones Folks!

Hang on for the ride!

Hi everyone and welcome!

I am another N4Ms veteran on the site, I am the newbie and have been here since April. My son is currently in GL for A School and is hoping to comp out (graduate) before Christmas stand down, the school is trying to get them fast tracked. His rate will then take him off to C School following A School graduation.

My son was one of the those who got to RTC and put into a division a PIR earlier than expected (ended up push division). Failed his running (pneumonia and SIQ), wisdom teeth pulled (SIQ), failed his prone float test (no fat to float) and still made his PIR. Did I worry you bet, can they do it with bumps in the road most definitely.

Please ask any questions you may have they are all important.

Fasten your seatbelts the rollercoaster ride is about to begin, but the weeks will go faster than you think!

diannep, LaLa, ellen0502, and FTLW...you all ROCK in my book! You all are a wealth of great information!! Thank you!! And to the rest of the newbies, ask away! I'll help as much as I can and leave the rest to the veterans. :)
