Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

IF she is 12 or under she will be allowed into the ceremony. If not, then no, she won't. There is no standby guests anymore. I'm so sorry if that ends up being the case.

Anyone who went to First Baptist Church, there will be a lot of pictures on this site somewhere. I cannot wait to see them. He is so ready for his test tomorrow, wants to see Chicago on PIR date, and wants to come home. I cannot wait to hold him oh so close to me :)

Comment by Craig on December 25, 2012 at 4:04pm: Today we gather with family and friends to share laughter and the make new Christmas memories. Please remember though for many families, whose loved ones serve in the Armed Forces, this year's Christmas celebration will not be complete. A familiar voice will not be heard and a chair at the table will remain empty because, they have someone far from home.

So, as those of us who are blessed to be with our families, let us remember in our prayers the homes that have an empty chair at the table and also offer a special prayer of thanks and ask God’s Blessings for the brave men and women of our Armed Forces, whose service and sacrifice will make the world a better and safer place. A very special prayer dear God, for those homes that have an empty chair that will forever remain vacant, may their sacrifice not have been in vain.

Comment by diannep on December 25, 2012 at 11:26am: Captains Cup was last Saturday for this group. Did anyone hear who won? They can have either 2 or 3 winners....All-Male Division, Integrated Division, and Motivational Chant....however one of the first two winners can also win the Chant award. It should have been a very fun day for them!

Remember, they will be calling from different area codes because they will be borrowing cells from the groups/people sponsoring them! So answer all calls. Surely telemarketers will not call today? I sure hope not! Enjoy this blessed day!
