Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

Comment by FireTeamLeaderWife aka FTLW on December 24, 2012 at 9:31pm: You can actually start taking pictures when you enter the Quarterdeck of the Visitors Center (The USS Yorktown) as well as Midway Ceremonial Drill Hall. But like diannp said none out of doors on the base. they are very serious about it and you could risk having your camera taken away and the pictures deleted as well as your Sailor getting in trouble. (They are "responsible" for you while you are on RTC).

The address that LeeAnn provided is on RTC... should be the Visitors Center.

Comment by dahlinka on December 24, 2012 at 8:51pm: Ill be at the greet and meet in the Ramada between 5:30 to 9:30, I'm having serge picking me from the air port , according to him my motel"Sptinghiil Merriot" is only across the street. My son called yesyrday we talked for half an houre , things are much more relax now, on cristmes day a group of them will be taken to a community centur and ha might be able to call me again. Now, the only thing I worry about is the weather...

You may also want to text SARGE and ask him if he knows 847 212-0246 I bet there will be signs on Buckley though directing you.

Ladies, a heads up for PIR. Remember that there are no pictures or videos allowed to be taken on RTC outside of PIR Hall. So take as many of these as you like inside the PIR Hall, but once you exit, put the cameras/phone cameras away. You are being watched! I forgot this when we were there and asked my older son to take a pik of a division marching by while we were waiting by the NEX for my sailor to return from his ship. Thankfully a kind lady walked by and whispered to him that he wasn't allowed to do that. He was quite angry at me! OOOPS!
