Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Lala Ribbon Queen PIR Ribbons on December 9, 2012 at 10:21pm: You guys are making me cry. I don't know what I would do without my Navy family :) The love and support still amazes me. You all are so kind and your prayers are very much appreciated and they are working. God is good all the time!!! They kept her on clear liquids for a little more than 12 hours and she kept it down. Then she had dry toast and jello for lunch and kept that down even though she felt a little sick she kept it down. They kept giving her clear liquids and of course the IV fluids. She had some soup earlier this evening and so far has kept it down. She said she is feeling much better now that she is hydrated and she hasn't thrown up since she arrived at the hospital yesterday afternoon. So that is great. So glad she is feeling better. They are in the process of releasing her right now :) Prayer is a wonderful thing and we appreciate them and all of you so very much.

Comment by DaytonaBeachMom on December 9, 2012 at 9:10pm: When my SR called last Sat. he said he needed me to mail his printed itinerary to him that day - not just what I wrote but the confirmation from the airline. He said they needed it right away to put in for his leave. So yes, I do understand why they wanted it e-mailed right away. My SR was so adamant about it going in the mail that day and that it be the airline one - he kept telling me over and over!!!

He said he needed me to email his itinerary to his RDC by midnight or he couldn't come home. I emailed it right away. I asked if something was wrong, but he said he was worried he wouldn't be able to come home. What I don't understand is that he had all the flight info! I had written it all down in a letter. Anyone have any insight to why the RDC needed the itinerary emailed to him???
