Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Brenda on December 9, 2012 at 3:12pm: I guess we won't get to make it for Christmas with our SR , but I talked to her and she said that she could get adopted by a friend's familly. That makes me feel so much better. I can't wait to see her at graduation, through the letters and phone calls , I can tell she has really changed and matured even more over the last few months , I'm so proud of her. She said she has passed everything so far during "Hell" week , I just want to wish all our SR's good luck , and we're keeping them in our prayers.

Rickysgirl, She is on a training work-up in Fallon. I will message you the hospital. I think you may be a couple hours or more from her but I really appreciate your kindness :)

Comment by Rickysgirl23 on December 9, 2012 at 12:42am: She is in my prayers. Where in Nevada is she? I am in Las Vegas. If I can be there for her I will. I had lots of complications during my pregnancy I went through by myself and I wouldn't wish that on anyone

Comment by NCNarrator on December 9, 2012 at 12:40am: Oh Lala, I'm so sorry - I can't imagine how stressful this is for you, your daughter, and her hubby! I managed to get dehydrated with my first pregnancy (EPIC, 24-hour morning sickness); it was miserable, but the treatment is pretty straightforward. Prayers all the way around!

She is pregnant and they just admitted her to the hospital for severe dehydration. 2514 miles away from me and almost 2800 miles from her hubby. Please keep her and the baby in your prayers. We really appreciate it <3

No one calls me but family and close friends anyway besides him :) I just kicked my butt in an intense workout which helped the nerves! Now I wait for the next call or letters.

I was so stressed about missing a call that I changed my greeting on my phone to a personal message to my son. It started with "Hi C?????. I'm sooooo sorry I missed your call but I want you to know how proud I am of you and I miss you soooo much, stay strong and I'll see you soon! "...."anybody else knows this wasn't meant for you so just leave a message". Everyone thought I was CRAZY but it gave me piece of mind. My husband called me neurotic!!!
