~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Phone in the bra, Rickysgirl. If it vibrates, you for sure won't miss the next one! So very sorry you missed it...hoping he can call back.
Got a call from my son 13/042! It was an AWESOME call. He said things are going great. He passed his weapons safety tests. They passed Marlin Spike! He said bootcamp was really becoming fun! Oh it was sooooooo good to hear that! 20 DAYS!!!
RickyGirl---I had the same question. Was told by PAO that my son needed permission to hand them out. When he called he said that he had asked but hadn't gotten a reply yet. He's going to let me know in the next letter. I guess you should call PAO and see if you get the same response.
Chebon's mom, I saw somewhere that everyone will be adopted ...by families, churches, those in charge...
RickysGirl. To be sure, I would call the PAO on Monday.

It probably is ok to send them in a box, like Lala said, but I would doublecheck.
Yes, Hopper. Multiple divisions do make up the same training group, which includes all of those PIRing on the same day. Seems strange that SRs from other divisions can be adopted by a SR's family in a separate division (i.e., not a brother division....each division has a brother division). Doesn't seem that the SRs would know those in other divisions outside of their brother division, unless they are friends/relatives from before bootcamp. They usually just know those in their own division/brother division.
But....I do hope all who want to get adopted for Christmas are able to!
Good Morning All!
Deciphering this information is very confusing, I actually spoke to someone in the Public Affairs Office I also asked them basically the same question in many different ways so I was sure by the time I hung up the phone I have full comprehension.
On the adopt a sailor blue form it says "you may adopt your recruit plus one other from the same training group please indicate your recruits via letter if you wish to do so”
On the back of the same blue form it says "2012 Christmas adopt a sailor family
request form/information.” Underneath that they are space for the two recruits. Your recruit and the plus one recruit. They need both of the recruits name both of the recruits division numbers and both of recruits ship numbers
Families have the ability to adopt their own recruit, plus one other from the
same training group. The reason why wrote this is because, some people think that if there recruit is in a different division they cannot adopt that recruit.
I was told, that the recruits just have to be in the same training group.
My son training group is 7, and training groups 7 has 8 divisions.
For Example:
The question I had asked was, does Training Group mean the same as Division when it comes to adopting a sailor?
Answer: was No, it does not mean the same thing. (It does it mean the same thing to the Navy) They explain that training groups are like umbrellas they cover over the divisions.
Based on my understanding, multiple divisions make up one training group.
But, I believe that they just need to be in the same TG. to get adopted.
How divisions interact with each other is up to the Navy
remember we are talking about the blue adopt a sailor form and how to fill it out
I know this is confusing that's why I called.
Hope this helps!
Hopper
I just thought that one medium box would be better than a bunch of big envelopes....input??
@zman's mom - Gosh that sounds so good when I think about it. I get butterflies every time I think about how close we are. I won't be getting much sleep the last couple days out of excitement!
