~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

Apeface - I hope someone adds your Recruit to their Form...I understand the wish for that initmate level on Christmas Day :-).

Just as an FYI for the GROUP though -

All of the recruits within the two TG's, this one and the 01/04 PIR, will not be "left behind" on RTC Christmas day.

If they are not adopted by family or added to another recruits Form, they will be bussed in groups ( some just take a set of Brother Divisions, like 29 and 30 did at Thanksgiving, and some much more as Nate's Mom has stated) to diffferent Orginaizations to celebrate Christmas day (like Nate's Mom said below...woo-hoo Nate's  Mom!).

Hopper-Mom -I am not trying to argue with you trust me...just trying to decipher as we are doing this on the net :-).

PAO emailed you this:

A: No. The training groups is like an umbrella, they hold all divisions.

I ask because their answer to you was "no" and then they explained the difference between TG and Division but not in respect to Adopt-A-Sailor as far as that one line.

You added this to your post:

"So when it comes to adopting a sailor, as long as there in the same training group you're allowed to adopt another sailor out. even though they may be in the different division. What they look at is training group not division."

Is the above addition from them or you?

Based on previous years the adopted recruit could only add another recruit from their same division...not the Training Group. However, I don't know if this was a directive from RTC or just that the recruit would put down one of their shipmates that they had made friends with.

Divisions really only interact with themselves and their Brother Division...not the rest of the TG as much as they are on different training days (in large TG's two sets of Brother divisions may be on the same training schedule), so it is less likely that they would know anyone from another division outside of theirs and possibly some from their Brother Division.

I have emailed PAO and asked this specifically:

When an adopted recruit adds a recruit to their Adopt-A-Sailor Form, does that added recruit have to be from the same Division as the adopted one or can they be from anywhere within the same TG?

Believe me, this is one of those instances where I would LOVE to be wrong about past info!

I will post an answer as soon as I get it.

Hopper-Mom , if i wasn't taking my sons bunkmate and meeting his parents at noon for the same reason as you. I would do it in a second. I'm sure someone here or the facebook site will do it. Good Luck

Training Group vs. Division

I just spoke to the Public Affairs Office this morning 12/7/12

Q: Does Training Group mean the same as Division  when it comes to adopting a sailor?

A: No. The training groups is like an umbrella, they hold all  divisions.

(they are eight Division underneath the umbrella of  Training Group 7 )

So when it comes to adopting  a sailor, as long as there in the same training group you're allowed to adopt  another sailor out. even though they may be in the different division. What they look at is training group not division.

So if anyone is able to adopt my son from the same training group,

 Training Group 7 (TG 7)

  I would really appreciate it.

These are the 8 Divisions that can adopt!

PIR 12/28/2012

My plane arrives on Christmas day at 12 noon. I just found out, that I had to pick up my son between 8 AM and 9 AM. Can someone adopt him for me until I get in?
