Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by RebeccaProudWife on December 4, 2012 at 8:00pm: FYI. I called the POA office for Great Lakes Boot Camp today. I just wanted to double check if they received the Adopt-A-Sailor form. They did, they were so nice about checking. I feel better now that I know they received it.

We are almost there....the best thing about this separation is how it makes us all keenly aware of what really is most important in our lives....we will be better for it; may we never forget what we learn. Comment by Rickysgirl23 on December 4, 2012 at 4:21pm: I just got off the phone with my SR!!! They let them call to make travel arrangements for leave after PIR. :) It was a long, amazing phone call. It couldn't have come at a better time. He said they are doing well. They do inspections daily and I guess starting Friday they have even more inspections they will be going through that week. He said he got to write down his wish list yesterday for where he would like to be stationed after A school, and let me know his A school will be a week shorter than we thought! :) It is also confirmed for anyone whose SR will be going to Pensacola for A school that they have to check in there before they can fly home (pain in the butt, but whatever works). He said he'll know more details later. I just want another week to be over with so I can be closer to seeing him!

Unfortunately being a girlfriend, I don't get that ability. Can ANYONE adopt him along with your son or husband so I could be there with him? I know it is possible! So if you could let me know ASAP I would really appreciate it!!!!
