Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Make sure to read our Community Guidelines and this Navy Operations Security (OPSEC) checklist - loose lips sink ships!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

All my coworkers are making jokes because they haven't seen me smile like I am in a while. :) It also helps that we are under 30 days until we see our SRs! It's all my man could talk about and that makes me feel good. I'm lucky enough to get a hotel on base so I hope to spend the max amount of time with him before he has to check back in. Things are getting better ladies and it feels good! :)

But it is amazing how many times we hear of divisions not getting it together, but they do eventually. Just takes a while for some to learn to comply with everything....such a different world than what they are used to. So glad you got to talk to him!

Irishgryeyes: So very sorry about your mom....and so glad that his call made her day! She needs many more of those! Sounds like he is doing great!

Comment by Irishgryeyes on November 30, 2012 at 12:31pm: Ok so call yesterday from my SR. Hes good didn't have his wisdom teeth yanked which he was thankful for. He called my parents since he knew we wouldn't be home and they would. It made my mothers (she has terminal cancer) day. She has been walking on air since. Passed all tests and is stick for the Div. He didnt mention anyone elses names in his letters but did say he was making friends in the div and had passed his inspections. It really has been a perk after everything else going on here to hear from him .

Comment by RobsPrincess12 on November 30, 2012 at 11:53am: I got 4 letters from my boyfriend yesterday morning and a phone call that afternoon. I'm STILL walking on air. As soon as he heard my voice I could hear him start to cry. He misses his mom and I and really wants to see us on Christmas. His dentist apointment went well. He had 3 rest days but decided not to use them. He says that his division has a lot of young boys who just refuse to study and refuse to stop talking. He's worried that if they don't get it together that his Div won't pass. He is trying to stay positive about them though. Hearing his voice really made my day. I miss him sooooo much.
