~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.
~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.
~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.
~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:
• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:
• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.
Some Suggestions:
~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.
~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option
~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

My son called yesterday! Got to talk for about 20 min with his father and then called me and he talked a few minutes with both of his brothers and then I got about 10 min with him. I will post some of the things that he said that I have not read from others on this site. He said they are a "push" division which means they have an excelerated schedule. This is because their are some Nukes in the division that need to get to A school asap to get that class filled and going. Normal boot is for about 9 weeks and theirs is about 7 1/2. So they are packing more in a shorter amount of time. This is why some may not be getting mail and/or their notes to us are short. They are very busy! Also, said the guys from his div anyhow, that are not going to get that leave right after PIR because their A school is in other places, are guaranteed 2 more calls sometime the remainder of bootcamp. He said their are no women in their division. He is a section leader, which is comprised of 18 men. I asked if they are getting a lot of PT and he said he gets more than others because he has to do IT when anyone in his division messes up....not really a bonus, but it is effective. They get up at 5am, chow at 6am, lights out at 10pm, they are alowed to do some talking then but it is "shut-up" time at 10:30pm. He said their Chief is a reallly good guy. He is friends with a guy from Davenport, IA; one from Jacksonville, NC; Kyle whom he shipped out with from Omaha on 1NOV; A 30year old Texan and a guy who was an asst. pastor.....seemed he didn't want to give out names, maybe they were told they shouldn't?? If any of these sound like your SR let me know! Anyhow, to Rebecca...he no longer bunks with your husband because he had to move to where is section is...he did say he is a real nice guy, though. The beds are hard, because they are exactly like the ones on a ship which must double for a flotation device! I also got a letter yesterday and he said the reason they did not get to call over the Thanksgiving holiday was that some people had messed up. Said he misses music, especially the Christmas carols that he knew would be playing on the radio by now. All and all, he sounded MUCH better than even the quick call we got Monday afternoon. Said some might get to call Saturday.
White: The lastest the Adopt a Sailor form needs to be in Monday December 17th. You can fax these in so there is still some time.
Yes, 039 is on 3-4 today. My son said in his letter that BS21 is Dec. 20.
DaytonaBeachMom: To do a private message, you must "friend" the person first. So....go to that person's page by clicking on their screen name or photo icon. Then click on "Add a Friend" or "Send a Message". You can put a small message in the friend request. Once it is accepted, you can private message back and forth.
Just remember....some will be on 3-1 (training week/day) and others will be ahead of that. 043/044 are the last in training. But all divisions should be within a couple of days of each other. The earlier divisions should be on 3-4. The others are in between.
Good Morning!
I had 3 letters from my son today - his cold is doing much better and said he scored a 98% on his first test. Requested more stamps as he is sharing his with others so I will send him 2 books instead of one. I am not going up for Christmas but he is fine with that as he knows I will be there for PIR. I have reservations for us to fly back out on Sat. on Southwest out of Midway airport. I am not renting a car to go up and back - I'm taking the Orange El train to Washington St. stop - then walk 4 blocks west on Washington to Oglive Transp. center to catch the Union Pacific train to Great Lakes. The El train costs $2.25 and the Union Pacific is $6.25 each way. Millitary in uniform ride all trains, El trains and buses for free in Chicago. I would be more than happy to escort any SR's to Midway airport on Sat. My son is Ship 03, Div 039. Our flight leaves at 3:45 pm. going back to Orlando. I don't know how to do a private message on here but I see I have an inbox.
We got a letter today! It was mailed on November 16, so our mail is now officially SNAIL MAIL! #facepalm
He sounds better. He sent back the answers to the questionnaire I sent him, and some of the answers were hilarious! He says one of the petty officer's could give ME a run for being creatively evil! He sent me the last names of his friends instead of the first - with the joke that they don't use first names, since that makes it harder to shoot them when they turn into zombies. (Zombies are kind of a thing in our house...we're weird like that!)
Can't wait to hear from him again...and REALLY wish our mail ran a little FASTER! I'm seriously considering mugging our mail carrier!
Yes, tomorrow is 3-1. Glad you got to talk to her!
oh by the way if I understood her right , tomorrow starts 3~1
So glad I decided not to go out and eat, our SR called, I was so happy , but you could here how homesick she was, I decided to keep the conversation upbeat to help her. We talked for 20 min , said she got promoted to a new job watching over 12 other woman, well she's strong leader. She can't wait for graduation ( me either) . Wondering if they will get to come home if A school is somewhere else. She did say she has blisters on her feet from so much marching , but she said she doesn't regret her decision, I just had to tell her how proud I was.
