Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Comment by Penny_Nuke_MM2_NimitzNuke on November 27, 2012 at 3:12pm: Just a reminder, Christmas presents cannot be sent to sailors while in boot camp. This is a big no-no and guaranteed to get your sailor doing extra push-ups or 8-count push-ups. If you are going to PIR, take them to the hotel room. Unfortunately, most sailors cannot take anything back to the barracks so you will be returning home with most presents!!

My husband already filled out the guest accompanying host lines and both names are wrong. Do I have to have my husband send me a new form or am I allowed to just white it out?

Comment by Rickysgirl23 on November 27, 2012 at 12:17am: Who else has an SR that will be a stick leader. My boyfriend said they practice every day so I'm sure they know each other well. He said he was happy that it got him off being the head of bathroom duty! :) I want to find out who his bunkmate is because he said they both keep everything squared away. That's my man! I taught him everything he knows. I can't wait to compete and see who can make a tighter bed lol. We are an Army/Navy household and will have to wait until next year to watch the rivalry game together!

Comment by diannep on November 27, 2012 at 12:03am: Apeface: So sorry he didn't say more....but he may have had limited time to write....I bet he will have more to write as bootcamp goes along. Most of them are so exhausted by the time they can write, that it is hard. In another couple of weeks, they will be through Hell Week (training week 4) which is when things get much better for them. Hang in there....

I know he appreciates not having to write, which has always been his least favorite thing. I send the questionnaire along with a self addressed stamped envelope. I couldn't make it any easier for him and he loves it!!
