For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

Here is a pic of a Collar Device(I belive there are a different number of Chevrons depending on their postition) that the RPO's wear:

On the Chart RCPO(Recruit Chief Petty Officer) = ARPOC, RLPO(Recruit Lead Petty Officer = AROC

But it is too hard to yell... "RRRRCPO or RRRRLPO get your ________ in here"...So ARRRRRRPOOOC and ARRRRROC it is.

These positions are just for the duration of Boot Camp

If they are in a 900 Division the Ship Staff does "duties" at PIR. Door Guard, Side Boys - Greeting Offiers and special guests at PIR, body snatchers - you will see them at PIR going up and down the rows checking to see if the Sailors are all right (sometimes they lock their knees and can pass out), etc. They help make it run smoothly.

Ship staff within the Divisions stand guard and clean...from what we can gather. My son said it was the cleaning crew when he referred to SS and others have said they were on watch. Still other will be in a leadership position and call it SS as well.

I just figure it is used for all! LOL

Ship "staff"...they make sure it is in ship shape!

Comment by lovingmyson1993 on November 25, 2012 at 10:44pm: I finally got a letter this past Friday. my son is on Ship13 division 41. No phone calls!! Sure wish they would let them call home. My SR has been gone since 31st of Oct. I miss him dearly! I pray every night, GOD is with them. That the lord above gives them strength! Hopefully I get a GOOD call soon! Don't want any calls that are bad!!
