N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends".

The Weather Widget is interactive. Click the green dot on the top bar and drag it along the to change the time. Click LIVE to go back to current time. Click on the days to change to that day or expand out to six days.

Nika. Please keep believing that he is thinking of you and your baby everyday.  He needs your support now more than ever and you need to just keep writing and staying positive.  It's quite possible he sent a letter out and it got lost in the mail. I just received a form letter that was postmarked two weeks ago.  It's ok to miss him but please don't give up on him.  I'm sure he will contact you as soon as he can!

Totally agree with @zman'smom, Nika. I just received my first letter this week as well, and yes it was gut-wrenching waiting for it, but I know it wasn't his decision to wait so long to write me. :o/ I also read on here that some people in the same division as my husband got their letters like 5 days before mine. It really hurts, but just remember is writing to you as soon as he can!

Nika - my SR has been gone for 4 weeks and I just heard from him this week. Remember, our SR's are going through a lot right now, are being told what to do and when to do it. They have no choice. We are having to wait and it sucks, but it is only temporary. All we can do is be supportive and write to them as much as possible.

Nika:  You have to go on the no news is good news theory.  There is probably a very good reason why you haven't received his letter yet---Navy-related.  Hang in there.

Irishgryeye:  Not sure what you mean by moving graduation?  Unless your SR is delayed (asmoed), PIR will be 12/28.

Comment by Irishgryeyes on November 25, 2012 at 12:02am

@Bugs Thanks Im glad someone is getting an update. Mine arrived on the 1st of Nov so here it is the end of Nov and not hearing from him has me kinda worried. If they move grad I will pay to move my ticket just wish I would hear from him. *sigh* guess no news is good news Shrug

jam, yes I have ridden Amtrak from Florida to New York a few times.I always tell friends "If you can tent camp, you can ride Amtrak long distance with no sleeper car".  I love the train and have no problem taking it - the food is good or you can bring your own and you can move around and play games and watch movies - but it's not for everyone.  It takes about 24 hours to go from Fl. to Hudson, NY with a change in NYC.

jam:  Bootcamp Questionnaires are up above, to the right on here...under PAGES which is under the MEMBERS box.  Bootcamp Questionnaires info is about the 7th subject down on there.

Bugs mom:  Thank you for sharing ...lucky you : ).  I haven't checked my mailbox yet today so hopefully!!! Mine tends to get sick so I wonder how he is doing!!

One more question:  Have any of you ever ridden Amtrak for long distances?

Comment by jam on November 24, 2012 at 12:13pm

I saw something about a list of questions we can send to our SRs.  Does anyone know about that?
