dylansmom - I think that they can purchase stamps and phone cards at the NEX, but I sent stamps and a phone card with her and they didn't come home. The letter I received yesterday was on Navy paper and in a Navy envelope so that is provided for them. You could suprise him with a book of stamps and a phone card in your next letter to him though! You can get a 500 minute ATT card at Wal-mart for $25 - it won't go to waste, don't think a 30 minute phone card is enough for them!!

Good mornnig, Moms. I'm so glad to see that some of you haven't gotten a letter yet. I haven't either, and I was starting to feel like I was the only one. I really thought I'd have one when I got home from work last night, but nada. Maybe tonight. I got my form letter last Friday, so maybe Friday will be lucky for me.

Nobody told my son anything about Christmas or being home or not. We figured his PIR would be later in December and we were kind of hoping he'd be able to come home till after the first of the year. When do they know this stuff for sure, does anybody know?

They can only write their letters on Sunday, but once they start receiving mail they can receive mail any day not just on Sunday's.

Emily - My daughter said in her letter (written Sunday 10/17) that they expected they would be allowed to receive their mail tomorrow (meaning Monday 10/18) so here's hoping they are receiving our letters to them now!!

LovingMyCurtis - Yay for letters!! It's very reassuring to see words of devotion on paper; I'm there with you. My daughter indicated in her letter that it looks like she'll be coming home for the 2-week stand down over the Christmas holiday. I'm not sure if that will apply to all the recruits that PIR on 12/3 or not. Here's hoping that Curtis will be able to come home and see you!!

I just noticed on the 11/24 group that one recruit mentioned that as of Sunday, they had not received mail yet. But I feel sure they did later that day or Monday. But that may mean that this group's mail won't be received until this weekend. Hope I'm wrong and that they have already received what you all have been mailing since they left...but it not, they'll get it soon!

Good Morning, Ladies.

On the mail issue, there is no mail delivery on the weekends, but they possibly would deliver "held" mail on Sunday. They are allowed to write on Sundays. They hold all mail from recruits for at least the first 2 weeks of bc. My guess is that they had mail by this past Sunday/Monday...
For those of you who were writing everyday, they got LOTS of mail this week.

Molly and dylan'smom: There has always been confusion on the paper they write letters on and stamps. My son said that they were given to him when he was there. Others said they had to purchase it. So I don't know what the correct answer is. I just know my son wrote about 4-5 letters, all on Navy stationery, and he didn't need any paper/stamps/pens sent.

dylansmom: He will need a phone card but can purchase one at the NEX, unless you send him one. If you send him one, make sure it is activated.

dylansmom my son has wrote me two letters on Navy paper. The recuiter said they can buy stamps and the paper and all that stuff. but i may be wrong about the stamps.i sent a letter today and sent him stamps so he doesn't have to buy any.. All i know is the paper is cool looking and if it is giving to them or they have to buy it ... I dont know how that works ,,, hope you hear smthing soon...

Briantree mom and Molly - Wow thanks for the posting on Div 009. I recieved a letter form Collin today. He sounded much better! He has asked for a change in his job and wants to go into the medical field like his father. Wow did not see this coming. He has done well with the swimming part and even wrote his grandparents. I am getting more and more excited to see what PIR is like for us and them!!!
