Choose your Username. For the privacy and safety of you and/or your sailor, NO LAST NAMES ARE ALLOWED, even if your last name differs from that of your sailor (please make sure your URL address does not include your last name either). Also, please do not include your email address in your user name. Go to "Settings" above to set your Username. While there, complete your Profile so you can post and share photos and videos of your Sailor and share stories with other moms!

Join groups! Browse for groups for your PIR date, your sailor's occupational specialty, "A" school, assigned ship, homeport city, your own city or state, and a myriad of other interests. Jump in and introduce yourself! Start making friends that can last a lifetime.

OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind. In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships." OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

Comment by Linda (navynucmom) on October 16, 2010 at 9:18pm: I sure hope it doesn't interfere with his enlistment or graduation. I don't think it's a big deal, he didn't sound like it was. I'm sure they've just misplaced his paperwork. Someone else on the chat said they had to fax a bunch of stuff to BC cuz their paperwork didn't make it with them. So, I hope all is OK. My son said he may have to call back in a couple days once they review everything and if they find something else missing, he'll call back.

Comment by Sherri_M on October 16, 2010 at 8:59pm: Nuke mom...weird how some things slip through the cracks...huh....I had to give our recruiter copies of birth certificate 5 different times cause he kept losing it....anyway, at least you got to talk to your sailor even if it was to answer questions.....I'm sure you enjoyed the time!!! Hopefully, not much longer and we'll all be hearing from our guys/girls!

Check refundable rates and add a "change fee" in case your SR is delayed, and I bet it will still be cheaper than refundable. Remember, you can fly into Ohare, Midway, or Milwaukee. I would check fares to all 3 places. Midway is a little further away than OHare, but I don't think that far. Milwaukee is a bit further away from GL in the other direction. But all are relatively close by.

He was filling out some paperwork that the Navy said he should have filled out a long time ago and should not have even gotten into the Navy without it. But his original recruiter was such an idiot, he probably lost it. Anyway, it was sooooooo GREAT to talk to him. They gave him 15 minutes to call and get the answers he needed to fill out the form. He says he is doing well and it seems pretty easy, but he misses us like crazy and wants to write a letter. They won't let him write letters until he has mail set up or something like that. He started crying on the phone and told me he loves me. Now I can't stop crying....
