My son didn't take his wallet because his recruiter told him to just take his ID, a debit card and a few bucks. I'll add his wallet to the pile of stuff on his bed I'm taking to GL.

Next dumb question. I just printed my gate pass and notice it says vehicle registrations are required along with driver's license and proof of insurance. I live in Oklahoma and all we have to carry in the car is our insurance card. Is the vehicle registration the title? I need to find that and put it in my glove box for the trip.

Thanks LaLa as of last week he heard nothing. I will ask him if he calls again. He does know what I want. I think I have told him in 2 letters. I am sure he is getting tired of me asking. I know it will be a mad house the day of PIR. Thanks again for you help. Again I loved the ribbons.

Aggie: Cells and laptops cannot be on RTC so they can use them in the hotel room, and then you can give them to him if he is GradNGo and you meet him at the airport. If he is GradNGo to GL, you can give them to him once he is situated on the new base. If he won't move over there for a few days, you may need to rent a locker at:

LOCK AND GO
2323 Greenbay Rd
N. Chicago
847-578-0161

I understand this is close to base so they should be able to walk or split a cab with other sailors to retreive their things once on the base.
Comment by diannep on November 23, 2010 at 12:19pm
Aggie: Most already have their wallets with them. They were allowed to keep those if they took them to bc. So, yes, they can have their wallets right away. He can take that back to RTC with him without a problem.

Everyone be sure to look through your sailor's piks when they bring them back from their ship after PIR. Look at the invoice in there. Had I done that, I would have realized my son didn't order the yearbook and I could have ordered it at the NEX right then. As it was, I didn't notice the invoice until a week later, tried to order the yearbook then, and it was too late. For those whose sailors ordered Pkg A, the yearbook is included as a freebie to them. The PIR DVD is $29, I believe, and a "MUST GET". On it, you can see your sailor up close as they pass in front of the "review stand" when they first march in. It also can be ordered after PIR at the NEX if your sailor didn't get it. Both the yearbook and DVD will be mailed ---usually 4-6 weeks after PIR.

Lala, got my ribbons last night. I LOVE them! Thanks so much.

OK, dumb question time. I know our soon-to-be sailors have been asking for their laptops and cell phones and all other toys electronic, but what about their wallets? Can they have them for the first few weeks of A school, does anybody know? Or should I just take his new Navy Credit Union debit card?

I can't believe we've got divisions starting battle stations tonight. Prayers are going out tonight for them all.

Lala, I received the ribbons yesterday...They are absolutely beautiful! I ordered the ribbons w/gold lettering. The pictures do not do them justice!! Thanks for all of the hard work that you do for the moms/family members/significant others of our sailors:)
