So do where do the sailors go after they clear the hall. How do we know when or where we can see them again?

QT4JLM/Dawn: Maybe they ran out of time for everyone to call today and will call tomorrow. Hopefully they didn't have the call taken away from them for discipline reasons....

momclf: If you want to bring a blanket to sit on, I don't think that would be a problem. Or just sit on your coats!

As far as finding the sailors, Emily is lucky that hers is a "stick" (flag carrier) because they are in the front. My older son and I never spotted my sailor son during the entire ceremony. So we thought we would be "smart" and stay in the bleachers as everyone ran onto the floor at liberty call (you sit by divisions so we were right in front of his group) and let him spot us. So after almost getting trounced by the stampeding crowd (ha!), we stood there....and nothing happened....We finally made our way into the crowd to find him...had a few frustrating moments when we couldn't, and finally found him talking to some sailors in his group! He said he had not spotted us during the ceremony because he was looking straight ahead the whole time! Ask your recruit where he will be in the formation once they stop in front of the bleachers (on the far wall). They come in through the large rollup door and march around the entire hall, and when they get to the back wall, they change formation...so you may "lose" them then if you spotted them when they come in. It helps to know what row there are in when standing in front of the division and how far back....

Also, ladies, remember....get your photos quickly because they "clear out" the PIR hall relatively quickly. You have maybe 10 minutes before they will start asking all to leave.

Actually, usually the winners of Captains Cup get a phone call....well, RDC-willing, that is. So hopefully there will be some calls coming in before the I'm a Sailor calls.

Yes, Emily, your Captains Cup is Nov 27th! FUN DAY for all of them!
Comment by diannep on November 20, 2010 at 9:20pm
Yes, Molly....you can either print more than one gate pass or just make copies of the one you print.

i have a question here too!!!! WHEN IS THE CAPTAIN"S CUP FOR OUR PIR????? do the recruits/sailors get to call home after the captain's cup??
Comment by momclf (ship03 div 018) on November 20, 2010 at 8:47pm
OK girls, couple of new questions for you. I am assuming that the seating at PIR is bleacher type, are we permitted to take blankets to sit on? This next one may sound silly, but I am going to ask anyway, when PIR is finished, how the heck are we supposed to find our sailor? Any help? thanks

Thanks, diannep. I appreciate everyone on here who helps me with the answers I dont know. I do not know if he is gradngo yet, he called last night and said he doesnt know anything about his a school (except its at GL), said he will know more soon. So he was asking me all these questions. Either way, we will cherish any time we get with him.
