OPSEC - Navy Operations Security

Always keep Navy Operations Security in mind.  In the Navy, it's essential to remember that "loose lips sink ships."  OPSEC is everyone's responsibility.

DON'T post critical information including future destinations or ports of call; future operations, exercises or missions; deployment or homecoming dates.

DO be smart, use your head, always think OPSEC when using texts, email, phone, and social media, and watch this video: "Importance of Navy OPSEC."

N4M's Community Guidelines
and
OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Do you see your SR in any of these piks?  A very industrious employee of RTC spent lots of time and legwork trying to get as many photographed as she could as a Christmas surprise for all active divisions at RTC right now.  See if you can find yours!  If not here, please know that some SRs had appts on base during this time and could not be in the pik.  Hope that doesn't affect any of you on here!

Merry Merry Christmas!  Hope it is wonderful for all.  Your SRs will be enjoying a Christmas dinner on base today and having a relaxing day---those who stay on base.  Maybe some calls will come in?  You never know!  For sure those adopted out for the day will be calling on borrowed cellphones!

CatMom:  Thanks so much for posting the frequent scripture verses, they have been a boost during these weeks!  Getting our sailor's call on Christmas eve. is our best gift this year.  Merry Christmas to all.

                              MERRY CHRISTMAS!

Boms_wife:  They usually have until BattleStations day to pass before making that call, and since all divisions in this PIR group will be going through early next week, it is possible you still could get that call....but lets think positive and assume all is well and the next call you will get will be the I'm a Sailor call.....UNLESS....you are able to get a Christmas call tomorrow if your SR is adopted out for the day by another SR's family there for Christmas or a community group!  Wouldn't that be the best!  You could then hear from your SR's own mouth if he passed his final PFA.....Good Luck!

Everyone in this group:  Please be sure to answer ALL phone calls tomorrow since if your SRs are adopted out, they will be calling you from their hosts' personal cell phones (they may even get to Facetime with you!)....so the area codes will be all different.  If anyone is able to call from RTC, the 847 area code should still come through.  Just be generous and hopeful tomorrow and answer ALL CALLS!
