N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

Birdie:  There is a Metra station right there by the base.  Yes, you can use Sarge's taxis to pick up your sailor from A School base if you like....a car is not required.  But you may find that a car is more economical for you.  There are some very good deals out there!

Leslie:  It is ok for others to post the training week/day for a division on this page---they don't have to be private messaged.  Just division-specific BattleStations dates cannot be posted here....a person can just post that they have a date for a specific division and ask others to message them for it.

sourpatchkid:  You do not need a gate pass for Adopt a Sailor.  Have your form with you though.  Brian Walsh may be the guy that was so helpful to mamak in Public Affairs.  If you are to pick up at 8, I would imagine that you need to be on your way long before that....like at least by 7:30.  With 2 PIR groups involved in the Adopt a Christmas program, there may be a good number of people there.  You should have RTC Public Affairs email address in your form letter....feel free to email your questions to them.  You can also reach them by the CONTACT tab on the RTC website.

Sourpatchkid, if you don't get a better answer, you can call public affairs and ask for the person in charge of adopt a sailor.
He was quite helpful for me.

Ok, these are probably dumb questions, but does anyone know the procedure for the adopt a sailor? All I know is that we can pick up our SR at 8. Do we need a gate pass? Where do we go? How early should we get there? There's probably other things I should think of, too.

Thanks!

If anyone knows what day Division 48 is scheduled to go thru Battle Stations, would you please send a message to my inbox? Thank you
Comment by Birdie on December 22, 2015 at 9:23pm
Hello! I was wondering if anyone knew if there is a transit train on or near the base? We are trying to decide if renting a car is worth it. We want to spend some time in downtown Chicago. Also, do we have to have a car to get on base to pick up our sailor since he is staying for A school or can we enter in a shuttle van or taxi? Weird questions...just want to do the smartest thing!
