N4M's Community Guidelines

OPSEC.

~OPSEC OPerational SECurity, is always of the utmost importance.

~N4M’s also has Community Guidelines just like any other social media.

~Please take the time to read the OPSEC and N4M’s Community Guidelines.

~A quick note here, from the N4M’s CG’s:

• Don’t Jeopardize the Safety of Our Sailors: Remember OPSEC (Operational Security) (Don’t Sink Ships With Loose Lips) This site and all content posted on it are viewable to everyone on the Internet. This doesn’t mean you can’t share things about your Sailor – but too many details can put Sailors in harm’s way. The following are examples of red flags and should not be shared within this community either by posting or sending via a Group message:

• Sailors’ last names. This includes your username if you share the same last name as your son or daughter.

Some Suggestions:

~If your last name is different from your Recruits it is still not recommended for you to use in your username for your own personal security. This is your option. It is also not a good idea to use an email address as your username for personal security reasons.

~First Names and pictures of your Recruit are allowed but remember, everyone can see it and someone can easily match them up with their "mom". So you might want to consider changing your profile picture to not include your Recruit at least for the duration of BC. Again, your option

~It is also a good idea to make your settings for your Profile Page "viewable only to your friends"

I'm wondering if the had to switch the days around for some divisions because of holiday on Thanksgiving and Christmas messing with the regular schedule.  I seriously thought today was 6-1.

I just got my DEERS paperwork finally and have an appointment to get my ID on Monday. As for Tricare, do I have to send in the application form that was enclosed with my DD FORM 1172-2 or can I sign up for Tricare online?

Comment by Beachmomblue on December 18, 2015 at 4:16pm

Diannep, i sent it already.  The post man here said if I didn't send it today, he probably won't get it for Christmas so I just sent it and I followed all the the directions and put "ricky heaven kit" on the envelope I placed inside the christmas card.  I can always exchange the card for money at PIR.  I just wanted him to get something due to the fact I couldn't adopt him for Christmas.  I just hope he doesn't get in trouble.  I feel anxious about it now.  Though I did follow and did exactly what the Groups "letter writing & fun stuff mom did.  Too wordy sorry

Beachmomblue:  Is there someone else you can give the AmExp card to and get your SR a Visa card?  I agree that many areas don't accept it, but if it is for your SR to use at RTC, you may first want to email RTC and ask if the NEX and restaurants they go to accept the AmExp cards.

Comment by diannep on December 18, 2015 at 3:11pm

sourpatchkid:  Yes, the SRs should be allowed in Navy Lodge during Christmas Day.

Krisrva:  They could be in a "push" division which means none of the training day numbers match up!  I thought the same thing when you said yesterday was 5-1 since they normally are on 6-5 when they do BattleStations and that wouldn't work out for your division.  ellen's son was in a push division and she will be the first to tell you to forget the training week/day numbers.....

I bought my son an american express gift card.  Now I'm thinking I should have done a visa gift card.  American express is not accepted everywhere.

Comment by sourpatchkid on December 18, 2015 at 10:40am

Krisrva, I was wondering the same thing.

Also, does anyone know if the SRs are allowed into the Navy Lodge during the Christmas Adopt a Sailor? I'm sure we'd like some "alone time"--lol!

Comment by bdmom64 on December 18, 2015 at 8:12am

Thanks for the suggestion to send the Christmas form again with the correct subject line. We got a confirmation email and are now really looking forward to Christmas! Can't wait!

Good Morning!

Comment by diannep on December 18, 2015 at 12:56am

Llmom:  You may want to email RTC (email address should be in your form letter) and ask for confirmation that they received the fax.  Put Adopt a Sailor Form in the subject line.
